Bethenny Frankel just missed the cut for Donald Trump’s “The Apprentice,” revealing on Monday that she was the first alternate for the sophomore season of the popular NBC reality TV competition that aired in the early to mid-2000s.
A natural foods chef at the time, Frankel auditioned for Season 2 of “The Apprentice” (2004) and advanced through multiple rounds of casting before being being informed by producers that she would not make the final 18 contestants. Kelly Perdew ultimately won that season and a position within the Trump organization.
“I was on the normal person’s ‘Apprentice,’ meaning not ‘The Celebrity Apprentice,'” Frankel recalled. “I was selling these Bethenny Bakes cookies at a trade show at a booth. And I asked my partner at the time if he could get me the cheapest, smallest video camera — I didn’t know how to use one — and I asked him to record me selling cookies…...

CNN is under fire for normalizing Donald Trump — an accusation that the network faced in 2016, when it gave him wall-to-wall coverage and multiple on-air appearances.
On May 9, the former “Apprentice” star was found liable for sexual abuse and battery in Manhattan civil court via the lawsuit brought by E. Jean Carroll. The verdict arrived a little over a month after Trump, who also served as President of the United States from 2017 to 2021, also was charged with 34 felony counts related to hush money payments made to an adult film star.
Much of the attention of media commentators on Twitter after the verdict was directed at CNN, which has undergone a sustained change since the Warner Bros. Discovery merger. Today, May 10, just a day after the ruling, the network will host a primetime Town Hall event with Trump hosted by Kaitlan Collins. He will be the first GOP challenger to President Joe Biden...

“I don’t really hate anyone, and yeah, in a way, I do feel sorry for him,” Stormy Daniels told Piers Morgan this week of her opinion of the now-indicted Donald Trump. “It wouldn’t surprise me if it would come out that he’s been manipulated a lot more than we think, or that based on the things that have happened to me in the last five years, things I thought would never be possible, there could be something that we don’t know.”
“I’m so torn between being snarky and, you know.. just tell the truth,” Daniels went on to offer as advice to the ex-potus, who is facing felony charges from the Manhattan D.A., plus probes into election interference in Georgia, his role in the January 6 attack on the Capitol, and rape claims in a separate New York civil case.

Today’s indictment of Donald Trump quickly became tonight’s punchline for TV’s late-night hosts.
Trump arch-nemesis Jimmy Kimmel said he found out about Trump’s indictment less than two hours before walking onstage, but the Jimmy Kimmel Live! host had no problem filling most of his monologue with Trump jokes, including “The ‘J’ in ‘Donald J. Trump’ now stands for ‘Jail,’ ” and, “He’s going to be read his Miranda Rights. Wait until he finds out that all this time he had the right to be silent.”
Kimmel also had some suggested titles for new reality series Trump might sell, given his circumstances. Among them: The Celebrity Apprehentice, Arrested Developer and, of course, the all-purpose Biggest Loser.
Kimmel had earlier tweeted a video of himself walking out to rapturous applause and, taking a page out of Trump’s book, hugging a flag. “A day many of us thought would never come!

On Thursday (9 February), the latest episode of the BBC competition continued, showing contestants participating in a task in Dubai.
At the beginning of the episode, Donnelly could be seen at Heathrow. However, he later vanished from the episode, leaving viewers to wonder where he was.

Exclusive: Fremantle is planning to once again merge Britain’s Got Talent producer Thames with Talkback under a restructure that will be unveiled in the coming months.
Deadline understands plans are being drawn up to consolidate Fremantle’s UK entertainment labels, with the coming together of the two stalwart British production houses a strong possibility. The Apprentice producer Naked, which was merged with Fremantle stablemate Boundless in 2020, could also be brought within the newly-merged entity.
If rubberstamped, Deadline understands a label boss will be hired to oversee the new Talkback Thames shingle and a redundancy process will likely take place. We revealed late last month that Thames MD Amelia Brown is exiting after two decades to set up her own production company, while Naked MD Fatima Salaria is also departing shortly.

“The Masked Singer” fans, don’t feel too bad for Bret Michaels. Even though he was just eliminated as the Banana on Fox’s wild and wacky reality TV show, he won another competition series exactly 10 years: “Celebrity Apprentice.” That’s right, the rock star was famously “hired” by Donald Trump on May 23, 2010 in the Season 3 finale of NBC’s celeb spinoff of “The Apprentice.” Michaels’ prize? A whopping $640,000 for his charity, American Diabetes Association. Watch his winning moment in the flashback video above.
SEEBret Michaels (‘The Masked Singer’ Banana) unmasked interview: ‘I’ve never had such a great time’ and ‘Banana fans are awesome!’
The ultimate choice came down to Michaels vs. Holly Robinson Peete. “We all love you,” Trump told a nervous-looking Peete before turning to the banana-wearing Michaels and proclaiming, “And Bret, I have to tell you … you’re hired.” See the complete list of “Celebrity Apprentice” winners.

Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer must hand over unaired tapes from Donald Trump’s “The Celebrity Apprentice” as part of a marketing scam lawsuit filed against the Trump family, a federal judge ruled on Thursday.
The lawsuit, first filed in 2018 by four unnamed entrepreneurs, accuses Trump and his children Donald Jr., Eric and Ivanka of misleading the plaintiffs into investing in Acn, a multilevel marketing company that charged investors $499 to sell its products, without disclosing that they were paid to endorse the company. Upon following the Trumps’ recommendations, the plaintiffs claim, they lost thousands of dollars as a result.
The judge’s ruling will allow the lawsuit’s plaintiffs to view hours of unaired footage from two episodes that feature executives from Acn.

Summer Zervos, the former “Apprentice” contestant who accused Donald Trump of groping her in 2007, now says that Trump Organization records provide “irrefutable proof” that her story is accurate and is asking a judge to unmark them as confidential.
Zervos first came forward in 2016 to accuse Trump of groping her during a meeting in 2007. A year later, Zervos sued the then-president-elect for defamation, arguing that Trump falsely branded her a liar when he called her story “totally made up nonsense.”
Now, Zervos is saying that records provided during discovery by Trump’s private company back up her story:

Over the past decade, Singaporean films have routinely been selected for A-list international film festivals and have won accolades worldwide. While the world trained its eyes on the city-state in 2018 thanks to “Crazy Rich Asians,” the global Singaporean success story of the year was Yeo Siew Hua’s “A Land Imagined,” winning three awards at Locarno, including the Golden Leopard. The film is currently on release in Singapore and France, and a wider rollout is imminent, with sales agent Visit Films closing distribution deals on eight more territories.
Yeo and his feted contemporaries are not resting on their laurels. They are forging ahead with new projects.
“ ‘Stranger Eyes’ is about ways of seeing in this era of total surveillance and what it means to live as an image to be seen by others,” Yeo told Variety about his next project, which is also set in Singapore.

Donald Trump’s repeated attempts to outrun giving a deposition in a defamation lawsuit from a former The Apprentice contestant who alleges he sexually assaulted her looks to have run out of road.
In a move that could have big implications for the much-investigaed ex-Celebrity Apprentice host, a New York state appeals court today shut down Trump’s ongoing desire to dodge Summer Zervos’ legal action in its affirmation of a lower court ruling that Potus can’t get out of the case just because he is in the Oval Office. Even with more appeals possibly all the way to the Supreme Court, Trump now looks certain to have to sit for a grilling from Zervos’ attorney Mariann Wang by the end of June, I hear.

In a lengthy decision of great significance, a New York appeals court has affirmed a decision that President Donald Trump must face a defamation lawsuit brought by season-five Apprentice contestant Summer Zervos.
The dispute arose after audio was published of Trump boasting to Access Hollywood's Billy Bush about grabbing women's genitals. As Trump was under fire for his comments, Zervos came forward to accuse him of kissing her twice in 2007 and attacking her in a hotel room. "I never met her at a hotel," responded Trump, who would also counter allegations from his accusers as "...

Winner of the Netpac award at the Golden Horse Film Festival and Awards, among a number of other awards, both Asian and international, and backed up by production companies from all over the world, “Apprentice” is one of the most renowned Singaporean films of all time and an, overall, great movie.
The story revolves around Sergeant Aiman, a 28-year-old former soldier and current correctional officer, who has just been transferred from “Commonwealth” (referring to the former Queenstown Remand Prison) to the fictional Larangan Prison, the state’s maximum-security correctional institute. Aiman’s social life is practically non-existent, since he still lives with his sister and has no girlfriend, and seemingly, no ambition for his life whatsoever. As soon as he meets the prison’s chief executioner, Rahim, however, and is considered to be his assistant, and when he retires, his substitute, his true goals are revealed along...

ABC News is the latest media outlet shocked – shocked! – to report Donald Trump’s The Apprentice producer partner/pal Mark Burnett has had dealings with Russians connected to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Burnett has boasted of being in business, or at least in business talks, with Putin’s circle.
In Tuesday’s much aggregated report, ABC News cites unnamed sources who claimed that nine days after Trump won the presidency, Burnett reached out to one of Trump’s closest advisers to see if he would sit down with a banker who has long held ties to Russia. ABC News reported that congressional investigators are looking into Robert Foresman, now deputy chairman of Ubs Investment Bank.
With Burnett’s help, Foresman “found his way onto the daily calendar of Thomas Barrack,” who at the time was chairing what would become Trump’s inaugural fund, ABC News reported, citing internal emails. Burnett...

Many of the acolytes around Donald Trump these days seem to be running for cover, except for the man who essentially created him. Mark Burnett, the maven of reality TV, remains a Trump protector and is getting heat for it, but he himself dwells behind a veil of contradiction and mystery, as a lengthy piece in the New Yorker reminds us this week.
The man behind The Apprentice, Survivor, The Voice and Shark Tank, who now also serves as chairman of MGM Television, continues to churn out TV shows and movies, some of them embracing a clear ideological message. But who is he? I pondered this question given that that Burnett and his wife, Roma Downey, smiling and genial as ever, were dinner guests at my home not long ago – and left me more clueless than ever about the answer.

Joe Scarborough closed out the last Friday of 2018 by expressing his doubts that any tape exists of Donald Trump saying the N-word, saying that the Trump he knew before the presidency did not make racially insensitive comments.
“He did not say racially insensitive things, at least around us, behind closed doors. In fact, if you just look at the women who he dated and continued to date, it certainly goes against that,” Scarborough said on set. “That was not a part of Donald Trump’s personality.”
Scarborough cited more than a decade of personal experience he and “Morning Joe” co-host Mika Brzezinski had with the billionaire before his rise to the White House and said racially divisive politics were a new feature of Trump’s persona.

Did President Trump secretly utter the N-word while starring on “The Apprentice” as many have whispered over the years?
The answers, according to a new piece from The New Yorker is probably “no.” In a deep dive into the relationship between Trump and “Apprentice” creator Mark Burnett published Thursday, New Yorker staff writer Patrick Radden Keefe spoke with several former show insiders who said if such an explosive recording existed it would have leaked by now.
“If somebody had the goods, it would have leaked long ago. There were no Trump fans on the set. I don’t know a single person who worked on the show who voted for Trump,” an anonymous show employee told Keefe.

Donald Trump’s freewheeling style caused headaches even before he got to the White House, as staffers on “The Apprentice” had to frequently “reverse engineer” episodes of the NBC reality series because he would “fire” contestants at random.
In a long profile on Mark Burnett and Trump in The New Yorker published on Thursday, Jonathan Braun — an editor during the first six seasons of “The Apprentice” — revealed to the magazine that Trump would often decide, on a whim, which contestant to “fire” at the end of each episode. “The Apprentice” like most reality competition shows, featured a series of weekly challenges and Trump would decide who did the worst and eliminate that person from the competition.
But Braun explained that Trump was often unprepared and would seemingly decide at random who he felt should be eliminated.

President Donald Trump has blamed the Democratic minority in Congress for three shutdowns of the federal government this year alone, but there was a time not so long ago that he would have held himself responsible for that turn of events.
Back in the fall of 2013, when Barack Obama oversaw a 17-day shutdown of federal agencies in a battle with congressional Republicans over raising the debt ceiling, the then-real estate mogul and host of “The Apprentice” took the president to task in an interview on “Fox & Friends.”
“If you say who gets fired, it always has to be the top,” Trump told co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck when she asked, “Apprentice”-style, who should get fired and bear the brunt of the responsibility for a shutdown.

When “Will & Grace” returned to big ratings in fall 2017, it proved audiences were still hungry for the hit sitcom. But another one of Megan Mullally’s roles may have withstood the test of time quite as well.

Leading producer-turned-educator and lobbyist, Lord David Puttnam has once again called for a shortening of theatrical release windows. As recently as May this year, Puttnam had suggested a six-week exclusive period for theatrical releases. He now says that 30 days is ideal.
Puttnam was in conversation on Sunday with Singaporean filmmaker Boo Junfeng (“Apprentice”) at the ongoing Singapore International Film Festival.
“There is this ridiculous holdback on product,” said Puttnam. “Ideally, we should, very rapidly, move towards a 30-day holdback. After which (films) should be available on whatever medium people want.”
Puttnam was scornful of the idea of a film being available in cinemas for just three weeks, before making way for newer releases, but then not being available to audiences for the next 12-14 weeks when they need to be re-launched in other formats. “All that people want to see, has disappeared. President Donald Trump allegedly made racist statements, including during his time on The Apprentice, according to his former lawyer, Michael Cohen.
In an interview with Vanity Fair’s Emily Jane Fox, Cohen, who previously defended Trump against accusations of racism, coughed up four examples suggesting otherwise.
One incident allegedly happened when Cohen claims he was in on a discussion of The Apprentice, the first season of which featured finalists BIll Rancic and Kwame Jackson.
“Trump was explaining his back-and-forth about not picking Jackson,” Cohen said. Jackson, an African-American investment manager, had graduated from Harvard Business School.
“[Trump] said, ‘There’s no way I can let this black f-g win’,” Cohen alleged.
Another example occurred much more recently, in 2016, when Cohen observed to candidate Trump that his campaign rally crowd “looked vanilla on television.” According to Cohen, Trump shot back, “That’s because black people are too stupid to vote for me.

Tom Arnold, host of Viceland’s “The Hunt for the Trump Tapes,” says he knows exactly what’s contained on lost “Apprentice” tapes from Donald Trump’s years on the show — even though he can’t get his hands on them.

Tom Arnold pulls no punches when it comes to how he feels about Donald Trump.
“He’s the worst,” he tells Variety simply. “He is the worst person ever, but he’s always been like that.”
It’s that latter assessment that’s fueling Arnold’s single-minded campaign to dig up damning, uncontroversial evidence of Trump’s many alleged foibles — racism, misogyny, double-dealing, business incompetence — that he believes must exist in the many thousands of hours of unedited pre-presidency “Celebrity Apprentice” video, film and audio recordings, a mission he’s documenting on his new Viceland series “The Hunt for the Trump Tapes.”
“The Celebrity Apprentice” executive producer Mark Burnett and his studio MGM Television have stated that they are contractually forbidden from releasing any tapes; Trump has tweeted that, per Burnett, no tapes of him using racist language exist.
