Alan Wake 2 was a massive success for Remedy Entertainment and writer Tyler Burton Smith deserves to be recognized for his work. Smith has built a name and a reputation for himself with his previous works and will be adding Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin to his resume.

It’s always fun to discuss horror novels that Aren’T Stephen King. No knock on the monster from Maine, he’s the master of horror novels over the last, oh I don’t know, 50 years, for a reason but its nice to not have the show be solely dedicated to his adapted works. He says knowing that he makes the schedule and decides what books to cover. See you in May, Mr. King! Funnily enough, the man actually loved today’s subject to the degree that he called it one of 2006’s best horror novels, but more on that in a little bit. The Ruins (watch it Here) was one of those hot properties by an author whose previous work was an instant success with critics, fans, and studio executives that put it to celluloid. The book came out and just two years later we were given a movie...

Remedy Entertainment is currently involved in a number of projects. They recently launched a game called Alan Wake 2, which ended up being an incredible critical success. While it grows towards being a commercial success at its own pace, gamers around the world await its Dlc to be revealed and launched. Besides that, they are also working on remakes for Max Payne 1 and 2.
As fans await the recently announced Dlc for Alan Wake 2 to get a trailer, there’s a lot else they have to be hyped about. The above-mentioned Max Payne remakes are two of those things. There’s also a game that would be the sequel to Control, but one thing that fans do not know is going to happen is that all these projects might end up being set in the same universe.

Remedy Entertainment had previously made it known to its fans that the studio is planning for a connected universe between all their games. Alan Wake 2 is an example of the efforts to tie the games together, which features several references to other games from the developer.

For fans, this is just the beginning as Alan Wake’s storyline will continue further and the fans will get to see more of these overlapping. Remedy has confirmed the game to get two DLCs this year.

As the title of Alan Wake 2’s upcoming Dlc already implies, fans of the Remedy Connected Universe can expect to see some crossover between franchises in Night Springs. This is because fans will remember that several Remedy games feature the TV series Night Springs.

Alan Wake 2 developer Remedy Entertainment might not have succeeded in releasing a blockbuster game, but they released a very well-made title. This game looks excellent and has been loved by every gamer who has tried their hands at it. The best part is that they improved significantly over the prequel in terms of gameplay. It wears its Resident Evil influence on its sleeves.
Its story, too, was something else; it features a parallel narrative simultaneously telling the story of two different characters at the same time. To add to everything else, its ending was such that fans are still wondering if this game will get a sequel or not. A lot of signs from the developer and its latest game suggest that there will indeed be a sequel.
No, Alan Wake 2 is not the last game in the series

In every single aspect that matters, Remedy Entertainment’s Alan Wake 2 is to the original Alan Wake what Twin Peaks: The Return was to the first two seasons of Twin Peaks. Hell, in a wild twist, the first Alan Wake had the eponymous author penning a new novel called Return long before the third season of Mark Frost and David Lynch’s iconic television series was even announced, let alone titled. What they also have in common is a certain artistic ethos—the feeling that beyond being sequels to extraordinarily weird cult pieces of pop art, Alan Wake 2 and The Return are the sum total of lessons learned over time by their creators.
For Remedy, even with certain logistical corporate problems in the way, the meta text is clear: that art—in particular, the shared connected universe created by Remedy—exists not in a bubble, but in an unknowably vast...

Alan Wake II is a sequel 13 years in the making. A lot of expectation comes with a wait of that caliber. Developer Remedy has attempted to make the long-awaited sequel numerous times over the past decade, from the spin-off Alan Wake’s American Nightmare to their Xbox exclusive game Quantum Break that began production as an Alan Wake sequel. Alan Wake II has clearly been on Remedy’s mind as much as it’s been on ours, and that labor of love and passion come through in the final product.
Alan Wake II is an absolute enigma of a game. At times it feels like a direct continuation of that story that ended 13 years ago, at times it feels like an absolute reboot that detaches itself for long enough to tell a standalone story, and still other times it feels like one of the most frightening horror games I’ve ever played.

“Don’t try to understand it. Feel it.” That’s what one of the characters from “Tenet” said at the end of the film’s first trailer back in December. For now, that’s probably good advice if you don’t wanna lose your mind trying to figure out what’s going on in the new trailer that we got for the Christopher Nolan film on Thursday. But I do think we can make some educated guesses about what it’s doing. Though said guesses might be very, very wrong. Just something to remember as we try to dive in.
This new trailer does give us some new info, with folks saying things like “time travel” and “reversing the flow of time.” We got the news that Kenneth Branagh’s character can “communicate with the future.” And John David Washington’s character uses the word “inversion” to describe the time...

Do these Control Easter eggs help set-up a potential Alan Wake sequel?
Remedy's Control features several Easter eggs that suggest it takes place in the same universe as Alan Wake.
The Easter Eggs (which were spotted and rundown by MSpoweruser and other sources), go well-beyond cute references to Alan Wake and hint the two games are linked by more than just a shared developer. The first is a found document which seems to have been written by Alan Wake sometime after the events of the first game. Parts of the paper have been redacted, but it's strongly suggested that someone is monitoring Wake's situation and is concerned by its implications.
That theory is seemingly confirmed by another document found later in the game which confirms that Alice Wake (Alan's wife) was found and interviewed by government agents. What they learned from her was apparently enough to get...

If I could give Remedy one piece of advice about their latest cinematic third-person shooter, it’s that the team desperately needed to put a little more time and effort into the game’s overall, ahem, quality control. From top to bottom, for every positive, there’s a glaring negative that derails any goodwill Control tries to build up with the player. Long story short, the Finnish studio’s follow-up to 2016’s Quantum Break may be one of the biggest disappointments of 2019.
What’s truly striking about Control is just how poorly it capitalizes on its terrific paranormal premise. On paper, it all sounds like a surefire hit. A nefarious, clandestine organization? Check. A gargantuan, Tardis-esque skyscraper that has the power to infinitely bend shape, space and time? Yeppers. A creepy shadow-like adversary, affectionately dubbed The Hiss, that can possess humans and turn them into mindless killing machines? You got it.

Orion Pictures announced today that Emmy® and BAFTA Award-winn composer Bear McCreary has been brought on to score the reimagining of the 1988 horror classic Child’S Play. The upcoming film follows Karen (Aubrey Plaza), a single mother who gifts her son Andy (Gabriel Bateman) a Buddi doll, unaware of its more sinister nature and stars Plaza, Bateman, Brian Tyree Henry and recently revealed Mark Hamill as the voice of Chucky.
KatzSmith’s Aaron Schmidt said, “Bear comes with boundless ideas and energy, and his approach to this score has been incredible to witness. Remedy is just as interested in an Alan Wake sequel as most of the game's fans are, but they warn those fans that they shouldn't expect to see the game for a long time (if it ever comes out). Why? Well, it seems that the team is just too busy working on other projects.

"More than a toy... he's your best friend." While the Child's Play franchise featured the terrors of a corrupted Good Guys doll, the remake will focus on the horrors of a malevolent "Buddi" doll, as evidenced by the film's new poster, which also reveals the movie's 2019 release date.
The new poster was unveiled on the official Child's Play Facebook page (see below) with the caption, "The fun is just getting started. Your best friend hits theaters nationwide on June 21, 2019."
Despite the different name, the killer doll still looks very similar to the Good Guys doll named Chucky from the previous seven installments in the franchise. It's not yet known if the doll in the new movie will be named Chucky, nor has it been announced who will voice him (Brad Dourif has given life to the iconic character in all seven movies thus far), but we'll keep Daily Dead readers...

Following the announcement that production has begun in Vancouver on a remake of 1988's Child's Play, the first image of the killer doll from the modern reimagining has now been revealed, and he just wants to be your friend... till the end.

Back in July, it was revealed that a remake of 1988's Child Play was in development, and now MGM and Orion Pictures have announced that production on the contemporary reimagining has commenced in Vancouver, with Aubrey Plaza playing the role of Karen, Brian Tyree Henry as Mike, and Gabriel Bateman playing Andy.
Lars Klevberg (Polaroid) is directing the new Child's Play movie from a screenplay by Tyler Burton Smith (Kung Fury), with David Katzenberg and Seth Grahame-Smith on board as producers.
The original Child's Play was directed by Tom Holland (Fright Night) and co-written by Don Mancini, who has kept the franchise alive by writing six sequels and directing the three most recent installments, and he's also developing a Child's Play TV series. At this time, it does not look like the remake will be connected to the detailed timeline of Mancini's movies.

The Devil Doll is coming out to play… again.
As you’ve no doubt heard by now, MGM has tapped Norwegian filmmaker Lars Klevberg (Polaroid) to spearhead a remake of the original Child’s Play movie from 1988.
David Katzenberg and Seth Grahame-Smith, the producers behind New Line’s incredibly successful It, are both on board, and it’s been explained that this project is totally unrelated to the recently-announced TV series, which is in development from Don Mancini and fellow Chucky architect, David Kirschner.
MGM’s plan is to fast-track its “contemporary reboot,” which has a script from Tyler Burton Smith, whose credits include Kung Fury and Remedy’s deeply cinematic video game, Quantum Break. And that’s apparently still the case, as casting has already begun, with That Hashtag Show alleging that The Incredible Hulk actress Liv Tyler has been offered the role of Andy’s mom, Karen.

By the end of 2020, we'll have both the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 in our hands, as well as the fully launched Google Stadia, meaning that the next generation of video games will be finally upon us. Did this current generation, which began in 2012 with the release of the Nintendo Wii U, go out with a bang?

“What if this is the ocean?”
It was a thought I couldn’t get out of my head after watching a short demo of Remedy Games’ upcoming action game rife with elements of new weird fiction, magic realism, and supernatural surprises.
While “Control” is clearly meant to be its own thing, an entirely new creative work birthed by the team at Remedy Games, its key conceit brought to mind the ending of 2010’s “Alan Wake,” in which the protagonist of the psychological thriller utters a confounding last line: “It’s not a lake — it’s an ocean.”
The meaning of that line is never explained and hope for a sequel to the game was killed when in 2015 Remedy founding member and writer Sam Lake walked me through all of the reasons “Alan Wake 2” was killed.
But there still lingers the suspicion, perhaps it’s better to call it a hope,...

Hulu has handed a pilot order to another drama project from Warren Littlefield, executive producer of the streaming network’s Emmy-winning The Handmaid’s Tale.
Written by Josh Corbin (StartUp) and to be directed by BAFTA-nominated Jonathan Van Tulleken (Off Season), Reprisal hails from A+E Studios and The Littlefield Company. It’s a hyper-kinetic revenge tale following a relentless femme fatale who, after being left for dead, leads a vengeful campaign against a bombastic gang of gearheads.
Corbin executive produces with Littlefield and A+E Studios’ Barry Jossen.
Reprisal, which had been in the works for a while, joins Hulu’s recently ordered comedy pilot Kansas City. The company also has comedy pilot Search and Destroy from Portlandia co-creator Carrie Brownstein and Annapurna Television. The streamer opted not to move forward earlier this year with its last two drama pilots in contention, Locke & Key, which is closing a deal at Netflix,...

Remedy Entertainment’s next project is officially called “Control,” Sony revealed Monday night during its E3 2018 press conference.
Originally codenamed “P7,” it’s a new cinematic third-person action game from the “Alan Wake” and “Quantum Break” studio. It promises long-lasting, story-centric gameplay and the deepest game mechanics yet in a Remedy title.
“Control’s” plot focuses on a young woman named Jesse Faden and her search for answers after she takes on the role of the Director, according to the game’s official website. “The world of ‘Control’ has its own story, as do the allies Jesse meets along the way. Side-quests and secrets are everywhere. Jesse works with other Bureau agents, decodes cryptic ciphers and discovers strange Bureau experiments.” The combat system is flexible, Remedy said, and players can define their playstyle through supernatural abilities, upgrades, and modifiable loadouts.
In its 2017 financial statement, the studio said the game will...

Hey, "Bold And The Beautiful" fans. Unfortunately, we have some really sad news for you guys. Or at least, we think it's sad news. Apparently, the Bold And The Beautiful production team has decided to write character Sally Spectra out of the storyline soon. That means her portrayer Courtney Hope will be headed to the unemployment line. It's currently unknown why the producers have decided to write Sally out of the show. We could speculate over the many possibilities, but at the end of the day that's all it would be. Pure speculation. "The Bold And The Beautiful" production team doesn't comment on contracts. So, we won't be hearing any reasons from them. We're guessing it is likely due to "creative reasons." Again though, it's just speculation. Courtney hopped up her official Instagram account two days ago, March 19, 2018 to reveal this awful news. She stated, "I’ve been waiting for...

As reviews pour out today for the Xbox One X and "The world's most powerful console," I can't help but sit here and be stumped about this transitional era of gaming we're currently in. Next Tuesday, gamers will line up at midnight, miss work/class, and sit with glee as they shell out over $500 for a console that is going to be as obsolete as quickly as its past predecessors, and frankly, already comes with a much larger price tag.
But Terraflops, but 4K, but enhanced games.
Yeah, I know. The Xbox One X is the most powerful Console in gaming, but what does that really mean? For starters, it means you need a 4K TV to get any enjoyment out of it. At its cheapest, you're spending about an additional $249 on that alone, and the buck continues well past that.
Surely, many of you have already read about the...

Alan Wake, the hit 360 title, is just a few bucks for the entire collection right now, but get it before the game is entirely removed from stores.
Head on over to Steam for PC. amd the game should be on sale for Xbox One as well. The sale lasts until the end of Sunday (48 hours) before the game gets entirely removed from all stores due to licensing issues with some music used in the game.
Remedy confirmed the removal earlier this week. They developed the game along with other titles such as Quantum Break and Max Payne. The removal is due to some licenses running out for tracks found in the game, and Remedy doesn't feel simply removing them will do the game justice. The cast of Peter Jackson’s The Lord Of The Rings was a famously close-knit group, with the members of the Fellowship sharing plenty of inside jokes (and tattoos) accrued during their years of filming in New Zealand. It’s nice, then, to see that those bonds are still intact 15 years later, with retired hobbit Dominic Monaghan documenting a recent Lotr reunion with Aragorn, Frodo, Legolas, Pippin, and himself.

ABC is at this point so enamored with the idea of television that weaves in melodrama and struggles under the weight of dragging along its own gimmick that it can’t leave an interesting premise alone.
Such are the problems you have to hope drift to the sidelines as Conviction maneuvers through further episodes.
The heart of the show revolves around a new investigative unit in New York City – the Conviction Integrity Unit – that gets five days per case to go over convictions to see if they can find any innocent people who are sitting behind bars. The team consists of a prosecutor, a star defense attorney, a crack investigator, and a specialist in forensics and all things science related.
It’s not a bad premise, and it gives us a chance to explore police drama from a fresh perspective and stay on top of headlines and/or the relevant niche of the zeitgeist.

Microsoft’s decision to open up its catalog of first-party titles for PC with the Xbox Play Anywhere program doesn’t necessarily detract from the console gaming experience.
First showcased during E3 in June, the incentive offers players a cross-buy service across both Windows 10 and Xbox One, meaning you only need to buy one copy of a first-party game such as Gears of War 4 – select third-party titles are also valid – to access it across the two platforms.
It’s all part of Microsoft’s unification strategy, and while appearing on the Inner Circle Podcast (per GameSpot), Executive Albert Penello offered some fresh perspective on the Xbox Play Anywhere program and why it doesn’t spell the death of Microsoft’s console business.
“There’s a debate or a discussion that you can have with a certain type of people online and you want to argue details and argue nuance, but...
