Unfortunately 'Doctor Who' has a history for giving comedic performers (and Frank Skinner) the chance to do some 'serious' acting.
We had it with Lee Evans, Peter Kay, and would later have it with Bradley Walsh during (shiver) Jodie Whittaker's doomed and ratings nadir tenure.
So this episode of the spin-off only reminds us of how annoying and unfunny Frank Skinner really is. The worrying thing is he seems to think he's done a good job and that future appearances would follow.
Thankfully this has at the time of writing not proven to be the case.
See, there are some good things about 'Doctor Who' currently.
