A Bit Over the Top
Hitchcoc24 December 2018
I'm not a veteran seeking help. I know that it is sad that so many vets have to deal with a crazy bureaucracy to get aid. And so this episode is topical. The problem for me is that it paints the whole issue with a single brush. Are we to imply that anyone with PTSD is put into the same milieu? It makes it seem that the only solution is for these patients to have to buy their anti-depressants from a kind of black market. Or take matters into their own hands and be the thieves. Just a little too neat for me.

Really enjoy the show but this one bothered me

Warning: Spoilers
Normally I would rate this show an 8 or 9 but as a vet this episode really upset me. I use the VA and it is not underfunded and my personal experiences with VA caregivers is not even close to what was portrayed here. The one thing I could relate to is the long waits and frustration of the vets shown briefly in a scene. The episode bothered me because it felt like a positive spin on the VA rather than reflective of what vets face dealing with this bloated, uncaring bureaucracy. The problem isn't that vets refuse to acknowledge ptsd and refuse treatment but rather the VA makes us wait months if not years to get treatment, then to add insult the episode shows a vet selling meds to make some cash. Really offended by what the writers put out here.

Major boo-boo in this one.

Warning: Spoilers
Longmire's looking to hire a new deputy, but he really needs two. Vic wants to drop the case because "nobody got killed"??? Really? She thinks they only need to investigate fatalities? She should be looking for a new job.

Also, the "mystery" was pretty easy to figure out fairly early on, not a great episode.
