This starts out with the death of a Pakistani woman living in Leeds. She seems to have gotten mixed up with some bad people, one in particular. As the police investigate, they uncover more and more rocks. One man is a merciless killer who is able to intimidate people into keeping silent. Also, we find that Banks father may be in the early stages of dementia. There are a lot of unanswered questions.

Its fitting that keith baron plays alan's father ...both men are totally devoid of any warm feelings ... baron always seems to play the older gent that lost his wife and can't stand the grief and winds up in trouble ... dci banks on the other hand wonders around pointing fingers at crooks until he can find something that sticks ...it was okay at first but it'll never last
