Gascoigne was a key figure in the siege at Rothbury involving Raoul Moat. He arrived with a can of lager, some fried chicken and dressed in a dressing gown in an attempt to negotiate with the gunman.
He was turned away by the police.
When asked about his appearance at the Rothbury Siege, Gascoigne's agent, Kenny Shepherd, said: "He's doing what? I am sitting having an evening meal in Majorca. I'm speechless."
