Ignorance is a slope to hell
johnpierrepatrick12 January 2020
Movie relating a true story and how a kidnapping for money came to a terrible end. If that shows how ignorance and poverty can lead to barbaric behavior, the movie itself is too plain : it makes us follow the events, it forgets to contextualize and give these so-called barbarian a background.

Terrible story for a terrific film
searchanddestroy-112 May 2016
One more time, the true story of the Ilan Alimi's crime is related on screen, two years after the Alexandre Arcady's film. The latest picture, two years ago, focused on the family, and a little less on the perpetrators. This feature directed by Richard Berry, emphasizes on the gang and is even more awful - in the good way - more unbearable to watch, especially the torture sequences. But it deserves to be seen, at all costs. You have the proof here that the Jewish people are not necessarily rich ones, on the contrary. In this movie, acting, cast and directing are absolutely awesome, flawless. A real must see. But not for all audiences. Richard Berry planned it since five or six years from now.
