Dean Martin Celebrity Roast: Dan Haggerty (1977)
Grizzly Adams himself, Dan Haggerty, is the man getting the insults in this episode. Orson Welles, LaWanda Page, Denver Pyle, Ruth Buzzi, Jimmie Walker, Red Buttons, Rich Little, Foster Brooks and Abe Vigoda are just a few of the people who are throwing out the jokes here. I really wasn't sure how good this episode would be but it actually turned out to be one of the best of the series. The highlight happens when Buzzi goes absolutely nuts with that bag of her. Sure, we've seen this countless times before but it seems a lot of what happened here was unscripted and she, Martin and Haggerty just ran with it since it was working so well with the crowds. Poor Orson Welles has to follow this and even he knew there wasn't anything he could do! There are some very funny moments throughout the running time with all the guests offering up some nice jokes and it seems like Haggerty was having a very good time with it all.
