Bland

Fairly bland, undramatic, slow moving movie. Acting is unpretentious but adequate.

Mediocre

I thought the movie was okay. Unfortunately, like most christian films they lack the funds to make a really good movie. All in all it was still worth watching.

Awful
ResidentEvil2Fan30 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This film is extremely boring and just plain awful. The acting is retched, stilted, and just plain horrendous. The writing doesn't help anything at all. And the story is nothing like what the summary is reading anywhere. This film has very little to do with football and turns into a horrible talent show with some of the worst singing I have ever heard. Just avoid this one at all costs.

Bland acting and boring storyline
xt9930 June 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Terrible acting. Unrealistic storyline. Just boring.

Austin's older bro, who was a great high school footballer, dies. Austin finds a Christ necklace in his things and puts it on. Gives assumption that brother was a Christ follower but movie makes no future reference to it. Fast forward years and Austin also loves football but talks back to his coach sometimes. His coach is a hothead and even concussed a student for talking back (why is that even allowed?), so he dislikes Austin and refuses to play him. Football is everything to Austin, so he transfers schools because he needs football for scholarship opportunities. Oh, and he proposes to his girlfriend who is in her junior year. The moment seemed so melancholy and lacked feeling. She accepts but doesn't seem like she wanted to, especially after he tells her he's pretty much off the team. She breaks up with him when he transfers schools because they have nothing in common anymore. Did they ever? First day at new school and he accidentally bumps into some guys, who happen to be his teammates. They find out he used to play for the other team and make it their mission to make his life hell. Some kids stand up for him and prevent a beat down. He thanks them and they ask if he wants to go to church with them. Is this how church people recruit others? Thus his church life begins. He meets a girl. They raise money for a retirement home and he realises he doesn't need football anymore. He doesn't seem like the smartest or most motivated kid either, so his future just seems up in the air. Or maybe that's the point? Doesn't matter about your future as long as you have Jesus?

Laughed my head off
tougassteven14 July 2020
Wow wow wow, I don't think Covid-19 was around when this movie came out, but something stopped them short of pulling together anything worth of a complete plot. It looks like the rough draft of a movie that needed to be scrapped and redone from the beginning. Final production feels like it was done on an iPhone 5 on a long bathroom break. Should be listed under comedy because it was so bad I couldn't believe someone thought this would have been the least bit enjoyable or make any bit of sense. My insides hurt from the uncontrollable laughter.

We should all have such problems
bkoganbing16 June 2019
Young Aaron Mees is a football star who gets on the bad side of his coach who because of his attitude benches him. Not to be sidelined Mees merely transfers schools where he gets on bad with some of his would be teammates. They 'bully' him, but he meets up with a nice group of Christian kids, joins a church and finds that life ain't so bad.

It usually isn't for folks as good looking and hunky as Mees. To say the least he's not your typical bullied teen. The main thing kids are bullied for is not being heterosexual, but you will not see a Christian movie going in that direction.

Shake Off The World will not be making it out of church basements. We should all have such problems as Mees.

Great
eddiehardee-6223617 April 2020
Anytime I watch a movie based on Christian beliefs I think it's great because even though this young man could have played football and made something of himself he choose to follow the path that God layed out for him and that's why I give this movie a 10. Thanks and I'd definitely tell my friends about it. 🙂
