Outstanding horror short
hohl-davidj30 September 2015
Debris is a very proficient horror short that excels in technical aspects - Clear, crisp dialogue, sound, incredible music, editing, and cinematography. None of that would matter though if the story or script was poor, and this is definitely NOT the case. Nicole Jones-Dion does a fabulous job directing the actors and camera, and her writing is excellent as always, with refreshing subtext and conflict. She masterfully takes a sword and chops away any on-the-nose dialogue or cliché scenes. It's amazing what talent Jones and the producer pulled together, some being major players in the biz, and all of them very good.

My only complaint was that it seemed too short, but then again, that's a good thing- I wanted more! Feed me more blood!

Debris from a tsunami delivers further devastation to a desperate treasure hunter.

Wonderfully creative and timed concept using the recent deadly tsunami of 2011. That force of nature delivers both hope and horror to a desperate and dejected treasure hunter as he finds a cursed samurai sword which ultimately takes control of him.

Good production quality in photography, sound, and sets. Excellent script which provides sufficient back story, character setup, and structure in less than 15 minutes--and even manages to squeeze in a bit of comic relief. The story clearly is viable as a series or full-length feature franchise.

I especially enjoyed the title treatment with the Japanese characters taking shape into the film title Debris.

Nice work!
