Solid at times, not good enough overall

"The Outer Darkness" is a British horror film that runs for slightly over 20 minutes, but in fact if we look at how it was uploaded on Youtube just says ago, it is a little mini-series that consists of 3 episodes with focus on several character, one per episode you could approximately say, even if it was not all about this character only. Ben Franklin, Anthony Melton and Joel Morgan made this one and honestly I am a bit skeptical when it comes to horror from the UK because their trademark release over the years, the Nightmare for Christmas series, did not really impress me too much. But this one here is different. We have a group led by a priest in which the attendees talk about usually mysterious stories filled with fear and agony what have some kind of supernatural background. I really found it quite a pity that Darren Kent only had the short bit at the beginning to work with because it was perhaps the best thing about the film, even if his physical appearance contributed a lot to that as well. Other than him, we have the story of a mother who lost her child and enters into a sinister game of roulette to get her back. Will she? Or will the price be too high? I cannot deny there were one or two moments when I was curious what would happen, especially when she wagered her own life. But there were also mysterious events happening not in terms of the horror, but in terms of not really making sense story-wise sadly. You will recognize them if you decide to watch this film. I think it was okay at best, hoped it could be better because the stmospherne and characters were good enough, but the story needed more focus and attention to detail in my opinion. The final plot twist involving the priest did not impress me that much either. So overall, as a whole I give this trilogy if you want to call it like that a thumbs-down while explicitly stating that it is not a failure and people who like the horror genre more than I do can perhaps have a decent time checking this one out. I might have enjoyed this one more as part of a full feature movie. Did also not feel particularly British to me.
