The Open Season on hairy rugs.

Jane and Dolly head to the coast, under the pretense of a holiday break, but really to sleuth.

It's a very good, strong development of the story, it's visually rich, and because of the elongated running time, the characters are given chance to breathe and develop, that said it may be a little slow for a casual viewer.

The book is truly brought to life, everyone is in character, Hickson and Watford continue to shine, I also enjoyed a young Arthur Bostrom as George Bartlett. Slack's obvious irritation is great, she would get the better of him many more times.

Much is made of Miss Marple's ability to see life through the eyes of her village life, she doesn't miss a trick here.

It's very good, 8/10.

Kudos to the screenwriter for not deviating too much from Christie's narrative (Unlike many adaptations of her mysteries.) The scenes jump around a bit between police investigation and Jane's ruminating, but it's still fairly easy to follow the plot and afterwards see where the clues you missed were. The casting of Gwen Watford as Mrs. Bantry is especially pleasing and she plays to role intelligently.
