Another possible reference to the latest entry in the series, Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Blacklist (2013) is when Vernon Wilkes refers to Sam Fisher as a "ghost". One of the playstyles in Blacklist is called the Ghost playstyle and awards players with points when they play the game without being detected and by knocking out enemy guards instead of killing them. Sam Fisher is however shown killing people during the short, leaning him more towards another stealth-based playstyle from the game, called the Panther playstyle, which revolves around the player silently executing enemies without being detected.
Sam Fisher is not the only character in this short that also appears in Ubisoft's Splinter Cell franchise. A Vernon Wilkes Jr. appears in the original game from 2002 and Lambert appears in the first four games from 2002-2006.
