A surprise to Oscar watchers on nomination morning was “Love and Monsters” landing a visual effects nomination.
It was the first nomination for Mr. X, the company behind the effects of the film. The monster movie was a mix of special and visual effects. In all, more than 550 VFX shots used. Genevieve Camilleri, VFX supervisor, says the filming locations across Queensland, Australia, guided the team’s approach to the effects. “These unique environments informed how we would scale the creatures to their settings and how they would interact with the film’s post-apocalyptic landscape,” she says.
In the post-apocalyptic film, the monsters are not new creatures, they are mutated from existing insects and bugs that roamed the earth. Camilleri and the Mr. X team created over 13 different creatures.
Director Michael Matthews relied on the team to bring them to life. “We focused in on the fine details of their sensory...

Capcom’s long-awaited Resident Evil 3 remake is due to arrive in just a few short months and, as was the case with last year’s stellar reimagining, fans should expect a number of changes over the original.
First and foremost, of course, is the introduction of a brand new multiplayer mode. Resident Evil Resistance (formerly Project Resistance) is a bespoke, asymmetrical affair that pits four survivors against one Mastermind featuring hordes of undead and biologically altered animals from the series’ past and present. Mr. X, Lickers, Cerberus: you’re going to have one hell of a time escaping from this particular nightmare, not least due to the player-controlled Mastermind hounding you every step of the way.
That’s the most major addition accounted for, then, but what else? Besides the immediately obvious – totally redesigned characters and environments – improvements, Capcom has revealed a number of further adjustments in a recent interview.

The big new idea that Capcom brought to the table in 1999’s Resident Evil 3: Nemesis was the Nemesis itself. The titular foe was an all but invincible colossus of mutated flesh, with a rocket launcher for an arm and a real bad attitude. Not knowing when or where he was going to burst through a wall and attack you made for an intense survival horror experience. So, it’s all too appropriate that Capcom’s Resident Evil 3 remake is strongly rumored to surprise us all with a release in the not too distant future.
This project has been rumored ever since the Resident Evil 2 remake landed in early 2019 to unanimous praise and record-breaking sales. Now, multiple news sources are revealing that they’ve gotten word that its sequel has been secretly in development for quite a while and could arrive sooner than we think. The reason it hasn’t been officially announced yet,...

Raccoon City has witnessed some truly blood-curdling horrors over the years, but few compare to Nemesis, the hulking brute who pursued Jill Valentine throughout most, if not all, of Resident Evil 3.
He’s essentially the leaner, meaner version of Mr. X, and we all know how big an effect Capcom’s tyrant has had on the Resident Evil fanbase – hell, you can’t click through three pages on the Internet without encountering some bat-shit RE2 mod that plays “X Gon’ Give It To Ya” every time Mr. X barges into a room. Or better yet, transforms him into Thomas the Tank Engine. Yes, that is a modification that exists. And it’s glorious.
But what if the experience is changed beyond recognition? What if it becomes a new game entirely? We imagine that’s not exactly what YouTuber EvilLord had in mind when he produced this Nemesis mod, but it...

“Knock knock, open up the door, it’s real.”
Who knew Resident Evil 2 and Dmx would work so well? Because Capcom’s wildly successful reboot features a relentless (and downright terrifying) brute known only as Mr. X, it didn’t take long before the Internet dubbed “X Gon’ Give It To Ya” into the game, resulting in some truly hilarious videos of RE2‘s tyrant wreaking havoc.
And now, thanks to a deep dive interview with PC Gamer, game director Kazunori Kadoi has responded to that very mod, admitting that Capcom was utterly floored by the reaction to Mr. X and his thunderous footsteps – the kind of footsteps you’ll hear long into the night.
There are elements that we included (such as his hat) that we hoped would resonate and be a talking point with players, but we had no idea that people would enjoy Tyrant to this degree,...

Not since Alien: Isolation has a relentless foe stalked our every move so brilliantly – yes, Resident Evil 2 and, more specifically, the tyrant known as Mr. X is truly a force to be reckoned with, as he pursues Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield throughout the majority of Capcom’s celebrated reboot.
Frankly, there’s no let-up, and he’s also wormed his way into popular culture thanks to a series of Resident Evil 2 mods, each one more hilarious than the last. Suffice it to say, Capcom never expected Mr. X to resonate with its userbase quite so strongly, and yet, fans have pored over every little detail of T-00, whose thunderous footsteps can be heard echoing through the corridors of Resident Evil 2.
Speaking of which, game designer Kazunori Kadoi recently explained the ways in which Capcom’s development team created the footsteps of an eight-foot killing machine.

Resident Evil 2 frequently scares the living daylights out of me. There are few sounds in modern games that send chills up my spine quicker than the *thud* *thud* *thud* of Mr. X’s hulking footsteps. But at least you can turn the console off and escape them, right? Wrong. As players of Tencent’s Pubg Mobile will know, the shambling undead, vicious lickers and even (if you’re very unlucky) the Tyrant have all been menacing folks in the special Survive Till Dawn mode.
The update launched back in mid-February and was warmly received by the fanbase, with players appreciating the effort that had gone into bringing the Resident Evil menagerie to Pubg. They also liked the exclusive loot you could earn as a reward for killing monsters – with the menacing Tyrant a particularly good source for top class goodies.

By now, I certainly hope you’ve had the chance to play the recently released Resident Evil 2 remake. Though it didn’t top the 1998 original in my view, it’s one fantastic entry into the long-running survival horror franchise that I simply can’t get enough of.
Whether or not you’ve been able to partake in the fun, odds are you’ve seen the dreadful Mr. X popping up in videos on your social media feed. To date, the sharply dressed Tyrant has confounded players and likely forced them to poop their pants on various occasions.
To my surprise – and, apparently, Capcom’s – Mr. X has caught on like none could’ve imagined. Perhaps it’s the social media element I mentioned moments ago that played a big part, because that sure wasn’t around when I was blasting zombies in Raccoon City more than twenty years ago.

If there’s one character that has resonated within the hearts and minds of Resident Evil fans following 2019’s remake, it’s got to be the one and only Mr. X, also referred to as the Tyrant. Not only is he a formidable, unstoppable force that’ll eat your ammunition like it’s a bowl of iron-enriched cereal, but his eerie footsteps can be heard a mile off thanks to the game’s exquisite audio design, sending shivers down the spines of any unsuspecting players.
All that’s without even mentioning Mr. X’s incredibly hilarious and memorable memes, along with the terrific mod support from the PC community. From the amazing X Gon’ Give It To Ya, to the strangely sexy thong mod, to one that literally turns Mr. X into Thomas The Tank Engine (we kid you not), it almost feels like Mr. X is the blood-soaked gift that keeps on giving.

Anyone who’s played Capcom’s excellent remake of Resident Evil 2 will shudder at the name of Mr. X. While most of the enemies in the game are shambling animated corpses that are relatively easy to avoid, Mr. X is a hulking, practically unstoppable monster who actively stalks you through the game world. He’s a genuinely terrifying presence, with the mere sound of his thunking footsteps nearby causing intense feelings of dread. But it seems that things can get even worse than we thought.
Speedrunner BeastGamingHD encountered a rather scary glitch while attempting their S+ hardcore difficulty speedrun. As you can see in the video below, the player expertly uses flashbangs to disorientate Mr. X, slipping between his fingers with consummate ease. But perhaps the game realized that this individual didn’t seem to have a problem with him anymore, spawning another Mr. X as retribution.

Though it’s only just released, it’s safe to say that Capcom’s remake of Resident Evil 2 has been a huge success. The game’s sitting at 90% on Metacritic and has had fans delighting in its remake of the 1998 Ps One original, using everything that modern technology has to offer.
Its apocalyptic vision of Raccoon City is so great, in fact, that some folks are now demanding that Capcom work a similar magic on Resident Evil 3: Nemesis. And in a promising twist, producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi recently stated in an interview with Japanese website GameWatch that if they think fan demand’s there, they’ll put it into production.
Released just one year on from Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3 takes place in the same location and at around the same time as the second game. It stars Jill Valentine, one of the original Resident Evil characters and famously features the iconic Nemesis.

There's a lost version of Resident Evil 4 you've never played before. Meet the Hook Man...
Resident Evil celebrated its twentieth anniversary in 2016, and like any long-running series, it’s had its share of ups and downs. The first three games are classics of the old school survival horror genre, but the formula it pioneered had been thoroughly rung dry by the time it reached Resident Evil Zero in 2002. The series had grown stale and predictable, and needed a dramatic facelift.
Then it shed its skin and gloriously reinvented itself with Resident Evil 4, which upset purists by focusing more on action than horror, but there are few who would disagree it’s a highlight of the series. It was a mixed bag from that point on, with duds like Resident Evil 6 and Operation Raccoon City crossing with gems like Revelations, The Darkside Chronicles, Resident Evil 7, and the Resident Evil 2 remake.

Emraan Hashmi's recent film Mr. X failed to impress the audience at the box office. While this had a drastic effect on Emraan's career graph, the Bhatts decided to take matter into their hands for their upcoming projects. Readers may be aware that Mr. X was co-produced by Fox Star Studios, who also handled the promotions of the film. Mahesh Bhatt, who did not expect Mr. X to open to such low response, has now decided to handle the promotions of his future films all by himself. Apart from Citylights and Mr. X, the next film which is a part of the three film deal between Vishesh Films and Fox Star Studios, is Hamari Adhuri Kahaani which once again stars Emraan Hashmi alongside Vidya Balan and Rajkummar Rao. Hence, this time around, Mahesh Bhatt has refused to take any risks and has decided to promote the film along with his team,...

The major release of the coming week is the political satire, Jai Ho Democracy, featuring prestigious names such as Annu Kapoor, Om Puri, Satish Kaushik, Adil Hussain and Seema Biswas. The other listed releases are Ishq Ke Parindey and Nath-ek Pratha. With the audience preferring to wait for the biggie, the Akshay Kumar starrer, Gabbar Is Back (May 1), it will just be Jai Ho Democracy which holds some promise at the box-office.
Meanwhile, just as we had stated in our previous box-office report, all the releases of last week namely, the Bhatts' venture Mr. X (3D), Kalki Koechlin starrer Margarita With A Straw, as also the mythological Nanak Shah Fakir, saw dull to dismal openings. And it was just Emraan Hashmi's Mr. X which dominated the show with a 20-25 percent (on an average) start. The film did not show any major upsurge in collection during the remaining days...

It is a given in films directed by Vikram Bhatt. Either the leading man or the heroine or both have their voices dubbed by other artistes. In Kasoor actress Divya Dutta dubbed for Lisa Ray while another artiste dubbed for Divya as she had role in the film. In Raaz Bipasha Basu voice was dubbed. Many of the heroes in Bhatt's films have their voices dubbed by the director. The situation is somewhat sticky tricky and icky in Mr. X the latest creation of the Bhatts. While the leading man Emraan Hashmi speaks in his own voice, the leading lady Amyra's voice has been done way with. Says a source, "Vikram loves to dub his artistes in voices other than their own. Vikram has dubbed for Dino Morea in Raaz, Aftab Shivdasani in Ankahee and so many others. It was impossible for Vikram to dub Emraan as he is a popular face and voice.

Emraan Hashmi is all set to treat fans to his all-new avatar as an vigilante, action-hero in Mr. X, that hit theater screens today.
The film whose satellite rights have already fetched an approximate 25 crore (the highest for an Emraan Hashmi film this far), opened to an encouraging response and is headed for an approximate 7 crore Day-1 figure.
The family entertainer managed a 60% opening in single screens and 25% opening in multiplexes, despite the ongoing Ipl season with the 3D version doing exceptionally well. Ironically, Emraan’s previous films Jannat and Jannat 2 also released during the Ipl and showed similar business trends, going on to becoming certified hits.

The television premiere deal for the Emraan Hashmi- starrer ‘Mr. X’ has been inked for approximately 25 crore, the highest for an Emraan Hashmi film this far.
The film’s satellite rights fetched the whopping amount just before the release, given that the action-entertainer got a ‘U’ certificate and is certified as a clean-entertainer for family satellite viewing.
Confirming the news says producer Mukesh Bhatt, “Yes, this is the first time that we have got a huge amount for Emraan’s film. It is a family entertainer. So we really did not have to make any cuts for television viewing”.

As was the likely scenario, the new releases of the current week- Bhatts' venture, Mr. X (3D), the Kalki Koechlin starrer, Margarita With A Straw, as also the mythological Nanak Shah Fakir, have opened to a very dull start. And as said in our box-office report, it was Emraan Hashmi's Mr. X which led, but as the hype was missing (unlike the team's previous ventures), it was a dull 20-25 percent (on an average) start, with the higher occupancies for the 3D version. As per the makers the film has netted 5.50 crore during the opening day. The film will have to work hard during the remaining days of the weekend to see a turnaround in its fortune.
Meanwhile, last week's Sunny Leone starrer, Ek Paheli Leela, could not quite capitalize on a decent 15 crore opening weekend, during the weekdays, despite the single screens putting up a good show. The...

The Emraan Hashmi-Amyra Dastur starrer Mr X released today and it has some good and some cringeworthy dialogues that'll stay with you. Go ahead and read them, they're spoiler free.
"Jo gayab hote unhe nahnein ki nahin lekin pyaar ki zaroorat padti hai."
"Democracy ka ek kayda hai. Sabse best ko brasht karo, baki sab ki chinta chhod do."

This week's major release is the Bhatts' Emraan Hashmi starrer, Mr. X (3D), along with the mythological Punjabi film Nanak Shah Fakir as also Kalki Koechlin's English film Margarita With A Straw. It is expected that the Vikram Bhatt directed Mr X (3D) will try to repeat the Bhatt-Hashmi magic of yore, though the usual hype is missing. On the other hand, Nanak Shah Fakir will appeal not only to its target predominantly Sikh audience as also other lovers of humanity. The last mentioned film, Shonali Bose's Margarita With A Straw will garner excellent reviews but the box-office prospects appear limited.
Meanwhile, last Friday's T-Series venture, the Sunny Leone starrer, Ek Paheli Leela, embarked on a good to decent note leading to a creditable weekend. Last time when Emraan Hashmi and Kalki Koechelin came together on screen on the same day, it was for Shanghai where they were paired opposite each other. Now this Friday they would be pitted opposite each other in two altogether distinct films – Mr. X and Margarita With A Straw. While former is pitched for the masses, latter is eyeing niche audience.
Let’s talk about Mr. X first. The film is one of the rare Emraan Hashmi films that is catering to universal audience. In fact it has been pretty much sold as a family affair. All of this means that the film would have to reach out to a newer set of audience, which could well turn out to be a game changer for the actor. Since the actor is in a reinvention phase, this is actually a step in the right direction. All of this means that though...

Vikram Bhatt's Mr. X which opens next Friday could well be Emraan Hashmi's first non-Adult film in a very long time.

Bollywood's serial kisser-turned- invisible hero in Emraan Hashmi recently promoted his upcoming movie Mr. X on Cid, where he spoke about the plot of Mr. X, about the equation he shares with his ladylove in the movie, and about how Mr. X is similar to Mr. India.
Emraan said, "I play an invisible character who is an Anti-terrorist squad (Ats) officer. He gets burnt in a refinery and his cells do not reflect light because of the radiation and chemicals. So, this invisible man then seeks revenge from those who are responsible for his condition."
"There is a love story in the movie too. The hero's ladylove (Amyra Dastur) is his colleague who then turns his enemy due to differences in their ideologies," he added.
Emraan Hashmi then compared Mr. X to Mr. India, as he said, "You will experience enjoyable scenes with the invisible man. Just like Mr. India,...

Though Nora Fatehi will be seen grooving in an item song in Telugu action-comedy Kick 2, it is way different from Nargis Fakhri's sizzling number in Salman Khan starrer Hindi flick Kick.
"It is nothing like that (Nargis Fakhri's item number) at all. This song is very massy. It is an extremely energetic and fast-paced dance number with a signature step that would make everyone dance to it right from a toddler to an old man. The song from Salman's Kick that featured Nargis was almost like a club track. My song is a peppy number, set in a the backdrop of a village. It's very hot and rustic. The shoot is already done," says Nora.
Though she didn't divulge much, Nora reveals that her item song is on the lines of 'Munni Badnam' from Dabangg. Nora says, "Yes, it is almost like 'Munni Badnam', but a couple of notches higher.

According to an eyewitness at the censor screening of Mr. X, "Tempers ran high when members of the censor board recommended an Adults certificate. The board members refused, but agreed to give the film a 'UA' certificate (parental accompaniment required for pre-adult viewership) if one token cut was made. Mr Bhatt made the cut...

And it was the aide of successful patrons of the industry who have backed him that he made it to being one of the most successful singers today.
