This cab for hire
This short was made for Anglia television and directed by Andy Devonshire who these days is better known for directing The Best British Bake Off. This might explain why the scenes are set in enclosed spaces.
James Frain is Zero Eight, his call sign as a minicab driver and we see him pick up a passenger, take him to the airport and talk to the operator back at base, Sophie Vaughan.
What seems like idle chatter gives way to flirting and hints at maybe more. We find out that Frain is already in a relationship, has a baby but both characters seem to be pining for each other.
This is a well acted short, I guess the makers were lucky to get an actor like Frain involved who has had success in America. The director captures the kind of grotty loneliness of working in a taxi base late at night.
