Project lonely
kosmasp27 June 2016
Obviously if there are 4 people, you cannot call it exactly lonely in the sense you'd use the word otherwise, but you can use it in the sense, that those people are amongst themselves. And even when in company, you ultimately are by yourself. In this case, this strange case of claustrophobia and being away from "civilization" for a long time, will have effects on people.

It's a low budget affair, but it's still pretty decent to say the least. The setting and the set design are done with care though, so it's not like you get too much of a low budget feeling. The lighting, the script and the actors do the rest. This is pretty engaging and it is tense to a degree. If you have a heart for science fiction, this may be for you

Scenario is wobbly
fcaw6 November 2018
I can't believe this scenario wasn't worked up better to make up something either more plausible or consequential. It really killed it.

On the positive side I found amusing the nation of Quebec on the world stage and the fleurdelisé patch everywhere as American do with their flag. The effects and decor are rather good for a presumed low budget film.

Oh SVP work on the scenario!! In turn it would help out the actors.

No Science, Only Drama
dncorp29 June 2018
Lots of Nationalism of the French Canadians, that learned NOTHING from the International Space Station 1998 to maybe 2028.

After Democrat President Obama refused to continue funding the U.S. Space Shuttle 1981 to 2011, the U.S. had to rely on the Russian Federation to get U.S. Astronauts to the International Space Station, and more critically Supplies of Food, Water, Oxygen, Repair Parts. Because of this Logistics Problem, they filled the International Space Station with more supplies than the duration of the Missions. So here we have the pride and joy of the French Canadians, a larger Space Station than the International Space Station Only equipped for just over 1,000 Days and has large unoccupied areas and wide passageways.

Long ago, the idea was created that if necessary Astronauts could climb into a protective bag while in their Spacesuits. They then started a Low Earth Orbit Parachute Jump to Earth, this became proven Science when a parachutist jumped from an altitude of about 25 Miles in Near Earth Orbit, 2014.

The actual Science to protect Astronauts from Radiation exposure during the long duration flight to Mars, is to have the Year(s) as tons of water surround a water tight survival capsule centrally located in the Spacecraft. There are proven Drugs also that have been on the International Space Station that decrease the symptoms of Radiation Sickness, and the other thing that is administered intravenously to treat high exposure to Radiation.

Loneliness and life choices
LuckyLuigi18 April 2016
The thing that will scare many away is this movie is very slow and not a lot actually happens. I expect this is because this was originally a series that was made into a movie so it is longer than necessary which makes the slow pace even slower for this quick generation. For those not in a rush however, it is worth your time.

It's a story about four astronauts on a space station who are spending 1000 days in space to study the effect of isolation on human behaviour for use in long range manned space missions. All of them have made choices and sacrifices to get where they are, and in the enforced isolation of space each of them is confronted with their decisions, especially when things go banana-shaped. We all know those moments at 00:30 when you lie awake till 04:00 reliving your mistakes.

I can't say more without spoilers but it is a well executed study in human behaviour under pressure and visually it looks very good. The budget for the film was tiny so you'll have to accept there is gravity in the space station and everyone simply walks around, no money for fancy zero-g effects :)
