Tommy Gets the Bum Rap
There were no winners when it came to the IRA and the British. Let's face it, the degree of hatred experienced in Northern Ireland was directly related to the ugly sanctions imposed by the Brits. This included starvation and oppression. This does not excuse the random killing perpetrated by the armies of the IRA, but it does explain it. Tommy's father and brother have continued the campaign after most others had found a way to peace and a degree of toleration. Someone has been selling tainted cocaine and mostly young Brits are dying in large numbers. The London police chief (I guess that's what he is) despises the McConnels and has Tommy arrested. But the international force has to look at the realities of things and step back from obvious prejudice and bigotry. Good episode.
