UK documentary filmmaker Julien Temple is to make a movie about UK singer Graham McPherson, aka Suggs.
UK financiers Goldfinch Entertainment and UK management companies Anglo and Hannah Management are teaming on the film adaptation of My Life Story, the singer’s popular stage show.
Temple (London - The Modern Babylon) will direct the musical based on the Madness singer’s quest to find meaning to his life after his 50th birthday leaves him wondering who is really is.
The film will include narrative drama elements as well as live performance and archive and is ultimately due to screen next year as an event cinema release.
The original show, written by McPherson and Toby Follett and directed for the stage by Owen Lewis, opened at the Edinburgh Festival in 2012 and has now played to more than 250,000 people.

Films from 81 countries have been subitted for this year’s Best Foreign Language Film Oscar.
The Us Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has confirmed that 81 countries have submitted films for consideration for this year’s Academy Award for Best Foreign-Language Film.
Paraguay is the only first-time entrant.
The figure is down on last year, when a record 83 countries submitted features and the eventual winner was Polish feature Ida, directed by Pawel Pawlikowski.
Nine finalists will be shortlisted, which will be whittled down to five nominees that will be announced on Jan 14, 2016.
The 88th Academy Awards will take place at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on Feb 28, 2016, televised live in more than 225 countries and territories worldwide.

Canadian-born commercials director Tim Godsall is the latest to deploy Ifans’ unique charms, and the actor pretty much picks up where he left off in Noah Baumbach’s Greenberg as a midatlantic idea of an aging Britrocker. Here, though, he is a lot more successful than the leather-jacketed loser in Baumbach’s film: the idea here is that he is some sort of veteran...

The 69th Edinburgh International Film Festival (Eiff) (June 17-28) has revealed the juries that will judge its five award categories - The Michael Powell Award for Best British Film; Best Performance in a British Feature; Best International Feature; Best Documentary; and Best Short Film.
