- Angus Mhor: Something catch your eye there, lassie?
- Claire Randall: Yes, something I'm not likely to forget in a hurry.
- Claire Randall: [repeating Jamie's clan motto in voiceover] "Je suis prest." I am ready. But ready for what?
- Jamie Fraser: [at the oath-taking] Colum Mackenzie, I come to you as kensman and as ally. But I give you no vow. For my oath is pledged to the name that I bear.
- [as the tension in the hall turns threatening, several clansmen begin to draw swords and dirks]
- Jamie Fraser: I give you my obedience as kinsman and as laird. And I hold myself bound to your word, so long as my feet rest on the lands of the clan Mackenzie.
- [after a long pause, Colum beams at Jamie]
- Geillis Duncan: Sometimes you find yourself on a path you never expected. Doesn't mean it can't lead you to a bonny place.
- Claire Randall: [after giving Laoghaire Mackenzie a fake love charm] Here. Sprinkle the contents of this at his threshold. Stand outside the door, tap your heels together three times, and recite: "There's no place like love. There's no place like love."
- Dougal MacKenzie: [to Colum at the oath-taking] I swear by the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by the holy iron that I hold, to give ye my fealty and pledge ye my loyalty to the name of clan Mackenzie. And if ever I shall raise my hand against ye in rebellion, I ask that this holy iron shall pierce my heart.
- Claire Randall: I should go. I shouldn't be here.
- Dougal MacKenzie: [blocking Claire from leaving] Aye. Ye shoulda be here. But since ye are, there's a penalty to pay for that.
- [Dougal kisses and gropes Claire and she retaliates by slapping him]
- Dougal MacKenzie: Get ye gone, lass, before ye pay a greater price.
- Claire Randall: [Geordie has been fatally wounded on a boar hunt] Geordie. Tell me about your home.
- Geordie: It's near a wide glen, not far from Loch Fannich.
- Claire Randall: What's it like there? I'll wager it's beautiful.
- Geordie: Ah, 'tis. In the spring...
- Claire Randall: Yes?
- Geordie: The heather's so thick. ye can walk across the tops without touching the ground.
- Claire Randall: That sounds lovely.
- Geordie: Wish I could be there now.
- Dougal MacKenzie: [choked] Oh, you'll be there soon, lad.
- Geordie: Aye. Will ye stay with me?
- Dougal MacKenzie: Aye.
- Claire Randall: Yes.
- Claire Randall: I had no idea where this journey would lead me, what opportunity might present itself. I could only hope it would bring me closer to the standing stones of Craigh na Dun, If so, I was determined to reach them, knowing this time I must not fail.
