During the evening just as Claire and Jamie are leaving the dining hall, Garryowen (Garry Owen) is performed. It was an 18th century drinking song that later became popular in the British Army through the 5th Regiment of Dragoons. Later it became the marching tune for the American 7th Cavalry Regiment when Gen. George Armstrong Custer was in charge.
Lyrics later added to the tune:
"We can dare or we can do
United men and brothers too
Their gallant footsteps to pursue
And change our country's story."
This episode takes place in November 1743 and September 1939.
