Good Movie with Bad Theology
DeusWar11 January 2021
I saw this recently on YouTube for free. Overall, it was a good movie in the sense of acting, filmography, and script. My only contention is that it promotes the idea that Christians need to 'Beat the world at its own game'. Basically, it says that rather than separating from the world, that Christians should try to beat the world at its own game by making movies, using radio, etc. This is the idea of Kingdom Now Theology in which we are to reform and Christianize the world, which is unbiblical.

A great film about living in the world but not of the world

For those skeptical of the messaging in the theology of this movie, go ahead and read 1 Corinthians 9:19. We meet people where they are at with the word of God. We use the tools of the enemy to destroy the enemy. Let us not forget this. This movie is great even though it's a low budget film. The messaging is great. Praise God. Hallelujah and amen. I wasn't expecting much when I chose this movie, and saw some of the reviews but I highly recommended as a believer in the power of the Holy Spirit and Jesus Christ to change all things for good . If you like, wholesome Christian family films with good values, and a strong storyline, watch this one!

Be Careful of The Theology in this movie.
smithstephany-008895 August 2022
First of all it's a wonderful idea to use media to tell others about the good news of Jesus Christ. The problem comes when you start to measure your salvation based on works. The movie taught that if you go to movies that are ungodly and entertain yourself with them you may not be a Christian at all. Remember Galatians clearly teaches that we are not justified by the law but by faith in Christ. So if you're basing your Christianity on what you do then you're basing it on works. Now I'm not saying that Christians should live any way they want. In fact if you are truly a believer, it will manifest itself by your works. He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ. You cannot look at yourself to determine if you're saved or not. You are saved because you placed your faith in Jesus Christ alone plus nothing else.

Christian Propaganda
seanoriabhaigh15 April 2023
I was raised christian and it's trash like this that sent me away from the Church. Christianity teaches us that the meek shall inherit the Earth but this movie teaches us that coercion and media manipulation will save us... The irony is that all the things this story purports to be fighting for, is exactly their solution; fighting and persuasion to be a certain way (while at the same time, condemning the ways it disagrees with!).

At the end of the day (or end of days even), it will come to pass that the people who weren't judgemental of how others lived and were just kind, will find a place in Paradise and the people who tried to force their beliefs onto others or judged people because they had different ideologies than them, will be the ones banished for all eternity.

If you believe in that sort of thing.

GREAT IDEA, SHAME ABOUT THE EXECUTION
BengoAbroad11 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I'm very keen on sharing the Gospel through music and film. I love films like The Encounter and The Perfect Stranger. Unfortunately, The Power of the Air falls way short.

In terms of over all impression, everyone in the film seems so joyless! Our Lord's work should be done with great enthusiasm - en Theos, God within. In fact there's little passion, one way or another. The lighting and editing also seemed very uniform, little use of light and shade, fast cut/ slow cut to express mood or action.

In terms of detail, a number of things. I found station-head 'Charlie' unrealistic in her attitude. Supposed to be a hard-headed business woman, she wouldn't turn down business based on some personal dislike. There was also too much repetition of the basic message ('extract from the book').

Other little things such as, when the basketball players turned up at the movie showing, "Thank you for coming" is hardly an appropriate greeting. Perhaps something more like "So glad you could make it after all!" The actual content of the 60 sec. Ad. Seems to have been a last minute afterthought, not even thoroughly scripted, let alone any consideration of how to grab people's attention and deliver a Gospel message in 60 seconds. There could have been some great scenes of people putting together an ear-grabbing message full of impact - beating the devil at his own game! In buying the air time, being able to put a quality CD under their noses and saying "Just you listen to this!" could have made all the difference. In the call center, everyone should have been expectantly seated at the phones, not aimlessly standing around wondering what was going to happen. And at the end I would have liked to have seen a room full of exhausted people, amazed at how many calls they handled, showing the success of the project. There are other points, but I think these get the idea across.

I'm sorry to say a non-Christian watching this movie (IF they made it to the end!) would see it as why Christian media is generally regarded as poor. Even if there's a low budget, high standards can still be maintained.

I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, Christian or non-Christian. I only write this in the hopes that if the Christiano's read any of this, it will help them do better in the future. They HAVE made some good films, it was surprising how disappointing this one was.

BLESSED MOVIE !!!
anneestheraz1 December 2021
This movie is helping me to keep opening my eyes of the reality: this world has been infected by the presence of the enemy of The Lord Jesus Christ. It is gaining more and more place in our daily lives. One thing is true: WITHOUT JESUS CHRIST WE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO OVERCOME IT.

I bless God for what He did, He does and will do. We need to desire more and more Jesus Christ all the time. I thank The Holy Spirit for this movie. Let Him keep our eyes open.

The acting was well done. I love the idea of more movies that lift us up and encourage strong family and personal relationships.

Great movie!

Someone else gets it! So thankful for this movie! My husband and I enjoyed it. We will be sharing it with our kids and family. Most Christian movies aren't "Christian" anymore. This one is and I'm thankful for it. I had my doubts when starting it but they were quickly alleviated. This is an all around great Christian movie that sends a very clear message. It wakes you up and warns about the "largest church in America". Blessings to all of the people involved in making this movie. We need more Jesus. And we need more people willing to show how modern world is corrupting us without our knowledge.
