Joyce Dewitt's Best Dramatic Perfornance to date
Sylviastel18 April 2021
Joyce Dewitt played Judge Carol Ann Connelly. It's one of her best roles in an independent films. Mandy Bruno and Robert Bogue play lawyers in Middletown, New York. They both want to be rock stars. Mandy's character is in a wheelchair after an accident where she lost her mother. I loved seeing these actors and Justin Deas. Eric Roberts, Keaton Simons and Gilbert Gottfried have cameos. I like the courthouse scenes where the quality comes across. It's an okay film but it's Joyce's performance that was a shocker and totally different than smithing she ever done before. It's a bit king and could have used an editor. I didn't care about the band politics except for Deas' character. I got to watch it for free on a streaming service. I wished Joyce acted more.

Wouldn't be worth the $12 ticket in a regular movie theater.

Warning: Spoilers
Saw this at the Hoboken Film Festival last week in Middletown, NY. I know weird right? I was pretty excited because there's really nothing to do there and rarely an excuse to dress up. I went to the party and the premiere and there was lots of people, they gave away a lot of tickets and met lots of interesting people but the movie itself was not so interesting. I guess I pictured more with all the hype but its really just a tiny film and makeshift looking. The whole plot was just silly, like you would never take it seriously. You would take a Lifetime movie more seriously. The story was kind of laughable and the acting was pretty bad. The main girl Mandy was OK and has a pretty nice voice and seemed like a nice girl but everyone else was bad. Lots of over acting and cliché stuff. It was obvious almost everyone in the bands couldn't sing or play an instrument. There were two back up singers, a blond and brunette, chubby girls not the one in stripes she played the bass but they were in the original band and backup singers except they are really bad actors and really bad at lip syncing. The girl with the orange hair wasn't good at lip syncing either she seemed like she would fit in great in like a mosh pit or something. It may sound stupid like it's just lip syncing but it's a musical so it really did matter. The whole movie revolved around music in someway with a little romance and mysterious singing and conflict in the band so believe-ability would have been better. It was a drama but I laughed more than anything because there were some really bad parts and acting. If you're curious maybe on netflix or something but I would save your money. It's not like a real professional level film, it's more for fun and the experience. Like I said I met lots of interesting people and people that live in my community so that was cool I had a good experience and most people were really nice and I met Joyce DeWitt from 3's Company and she is SO sweet but I didn't feel like I saw some Hollywood film. There was more drama outside the theater actually. So weird and creepy but my cousin and I were standing around and we heard this woman but with a really deep voice right and she was telling someone how her boyfriend cheated on her for a year but that she made sure the girl he wanted to be with could never go anywhere near him again even though he told her he would come back to be with her because she knows how to own a man and keep the control! Woah now nelly like something right out of the movie and she said it with such force but like she was giving advice lol. We turn around to peek at who was cookoo for coco puffs and it was the brunette back up singer from Rock Story! Well I mean there was absolutely no one else around at all except 2 girls next to me and it wasn't them so there was no one else it could be. She was in this long yellow dress but she kept shifting her weight from side to side and pushing her tongue into her left cheek I thought she was going to spit or chewing tobacco or something. She looked like she wanted to box lol. Maybe they can make a women's boxing movie and put her in it, I'll come back next year to see it for the party. She disappeared after that probably because she saw us looking at her talking which yea was rude I know and we saw her a little while later hanging on this really hot guy that seemed like he couldn't care less to deal with her except when someone was taking a pic and then he was like all zoolander, talk about awkward. I would give the movie like a 2 maybe a 3 but the party, people, and over all fun factor like a 7. The theater is really pretty though and historic so it's pretty cool to almost imagine yourself 80 years ago getting all dressed up to go to the theater even though the reception was in a parking lot lol. In there defense there wasn't a lot of other places to have it. Oh and I got a picture with Joyce DeWitt and this guy that was in Rocky even though I never saw the movie. He was there to get a lifetime achievement award he wasn't in Rock Story but he was really sweet and he cried during his acceptance speech. Oh and Eric Roberts, Julia's brother is also in this but not a lot. His part was kind of cheesy actually I thought but I would have liked to see more of him anyway because I know he is a serious Hollywood actor. He's pretty cool and I got a photo with him too but he won't take a photo unless the camera is above him like the way Kim Kardashian takes her selfies. The angle has to be above shooting down or he wont take it! Not kidding! So funny. It is one of my better photos though so maybe he is on to something. I don't know where this goes now but in my opinion I'd be upset if I spent money on it in a theater because movies are so expensive now. I just had a good time at the event itself so I'm happy and would go back next year if I get the chance.
