The character of Bakerman is based loosely on the director's own father who died during filming. End credits display "In remembrance of Liam Bourke".
Bakerman was originally scheduled for one month of shooting but took little over a year, due to ilness and injuries during filming.
The car that the Bakerman drives was borrowed from the cinematographers grandfather. It was sold before shooting finished. So the final interior shots had to taken in the directors own car, a different model.
The bakery where Jens works and the one he walks out of are two different locations.
The original script of Bakerman had a darker and more sinister Jens character, but he was later rewritten to be more likeable in the final draft.
