Nice interview
Woodyanders18 February 2016
Warning: Spoilers
Mathilda May, who still looks quite stunning, candidly talks about playing the often nude Space Girl in Tobe Hooper's gloriously bonkers sci-fi/horror cult classic "Lifeforce" in this engrossing and informative fifteen-minute featurette. May reveals that she was originally a ballet dancer with no aspirations towards being an actress and, since she didn't speak a word of English at the time, had to learn her lines phonetically for her audition for "Lifeforce." Not surprisingly, May admits that she was initially embarrassed by all the extensive nudity that the part called for. May remembers Hooper as being rather shy and introverted, but also nice and gentle. May further notes that Steve Railsback was very nice and that Frank Finlay was an elegant gentleman who helped her learn English during the six months she spent in England for "Lifeforce." Best of all, May relates a great story about the scene with her all covered in blood being shot on her birthday. Loaded with choice film clips, it's essential viewing for "Lifeforce" fans.

Candid interview with Mathilda May.

Warning: Spoilers
Candid interview with French actress Mathilda May as she looks back at her role as the infamous naked space vampire in Tobe Hooper's Lifeforce (1985).

The gist of it is that while Mrs May does ponders how the accepted the role in the first place and states that today she wouldn't do it, she doesn't show regret or remorse for her participation on the movie. Mrs May seems proud of her work and the guts that took to film the scenes and embarrassed of all the nudity it involved (her character is naked for roughly 90% of her screen time) and how people can't stop talking about it, even decades after the film premiered. Mrs May also comments on how nice her costars were, particularly Steve Railsback and Frank Finlay. The latter is described by her as a "elegant gentleman" and Mrs May fondly recalls that her helped her to learn English during the filming of the movie.

An indispensable watch for all the Lifeforce fans who want to know more about the actress that played the character that stole the movie.

Dangerous Beauty with Mathilda May (2013)

*** 1/2 (out of 4)

Very good interview with actress Mathilda May who discusses her early career and then focuses in on the shooting of Tobe Hooper's LIFEFORCE. May starts off talking about her dancing career and how she never planned on being an actress. From here she discusses her agent sending her on an audition for this movie and how shocked she was when they asked her to get naked. May talks about not knowing too much English at the time and she reflects on Hooper, the cast and seeing the movie in a theater. It's funny but most people remember May and the film due to her non-stop nudity and that subject gets quite a bit of talk her. May admits that she doesn't understand how she was able to do it and also says she's quite embarrassed by how much there was. Overall this is an excellent interview as the actress comes across quite charming and honest in her answers. I thought it was fascinating hearing her talk about her embarrassment of the nudity but it seems she doesn't regret doing the film.
