Quotes
-
Bob Conti : Ah, Detective Wells. Bob Conti. I'm chief of staff here at the hospital.
Carrie Wells : Yeah, this is...
Bob Conti : And Joanne Webster, to what do we owe the honor?
Joanne Webster : I'm sorry, do I know you?
Bob Conti : I took your class at Fordham.
Carrie Wells : Oh, Forensic Pathology.
Joanne Webster : No, Knitting to Reduce Stress. It was a summer elective.
Bob Conti : I still have those alpaca slippers I made. Softest darn things.
Joanne Webster : Aren't they soft?
Carrie Wells : So...
Joanne Webster : It's like kitties on your feet.
-
Carrie Wells : Why would Jackie risk coming back into the country to kill a high school science teacher?
Al Burns : I wanted to kill my high school science teacher. He gave me a "D" in tenth grade. I had to go to summer school.
-
Carrie Wells : Jay, what do we got on our victim?
Jay Lee : Theodore Muscat. Lived in Mamaroneck. Been teaching at Lakeside High for the past three years. Before that, at a high school in Ohio for twelve years. Not married, no record, nothing unusual.
Carrie Wells : There has got to be some connection here.
Al Burns : Did you cross him with what we know of past Alpha Five operations?
Jay Lee : [typing] There's nothing. Now, we know that Alpha Five was created by KGB officers to be an elite paramilitary group and that they secretly train in the Caucausus. So far, I see nothing that links Muscat to any past Alpha Five terrorist activity.
Al Burns : Jackie kills anyone who gets in her way. Maybe Muscat's death was collateral damage on her way to something else.
Carrie Wells : The question is, on her way to what?
-
Carrie Wells : Back in his hospital room, Ted Muscat had a USB cap that was missing its flash drive. In his room, there was a poster of a valley below Mount El'brus. That is where the Alpha Five training camp is.
Al Burns : An Alpha Five agent was working as a public schoolteacher in Mameroneck?
Carrie Wells : I know, I know it sounds crazy, but maybe, just maybe, he's more than a science teacher.
-
Eliot Delson : How are things going?
Carrie Wells : Oh, well, I'm just trying to connect the dots. Problem is, you have to actually be able to see the dots before you can connect them.
Eliot Delson : But you think it's your girl?
Carrie Wells : Well, we have her on the video outside the hospital. The guy she killed was Alpha Five. Yeah, I'm sure she's our girl.
-
Eliot Delson : Any idea why she'd want to off a member of her team?
Carrie Wells : Okay, you're doing that thing again.
Eliot Delson : What, the ear-twitching thing?
Carrie Wells : No. The "dancing around what you really want to say by asking obvious questions" thing.
Eliot Delson : I do. I do want to say, Jackie is a deadly international assassin, and we should probably bring the feds in on this one.
Carrie Wells : No. I know how she thinks; I can get inside her head.
Eliot Delson : And she can get inside yours.
Carrie Wells : Don't be so sure. It's like a maze up there.
Eliot Delson : Carrie.
Carrie Wells : Mm-hmm?
Eliot Delson : If we stick with this, I need to know I'm not being dragged into some personal grudge match between the two of you.
Carrie Wells : Never.
-
Al Burns : Let me guess. He's worried your personal stake in catching Jackie is gonna compromise your professional judgment.
Carrie Wells : Why does everyone keep using the word "personal" here? I am a cop. We catch bad guys. That is what we do. That is what I'm doing.
Al Burns : I beat you at tennis a long time ago. You still can't let it go.
Carrie Wells : August 2001. You said that ball was out when it was in. And what the hell does that have to do with anything?
Al Burns : Jackie kills six people and then outsmarts you and disappears right under your nose. She won, you lost, it's personal.
-
Carrie Wells : Listen, I said I was gonna take her Russian ass down, okay, when she-she got away from me the last time, and that is what I intend to do.
Al Burns : You know, she got away from me, too, which is why we're gonna take her down together.
Carrie Wells : Okay. I like the sound of that.
Al Burns : [leaving] Ball was out.
Carrie Wells : [to herself] It was in.
-
Al Burns : [finding Petra dead] She was their nanny for three years. She must've been using Cerrano's accounts for Alpha Five.
Carrie Wells : Three years after she supposedly dies in a plane crash, just like Vayzer. We're dealing with a sleeper cell, Al. There were two more operatives on that plane. We have to find them.
-
Jay Lee : I found these behind the dresser in the nanny's room.
Carrie Wells : What are we looking at?
Jay Lee : After September 11, we got special training to spot this kind of thing. It's a high-capacity semiconductor 70VR.
Al Burns : Which means?
Jay Lee : It's a type of electronic fuse. Really sophisticated. Our high school science teacher knew what he was doing.
Al Burns : A fuse for what?
Jay Lee : Well, this goes way above my pay grade, so I can't be sure, but I recognize some of the components. The nuetron reflectors give it away.
Carrie Wells : A bomb. A nuclear bomb.
-
Carrie Wells : Last time I saw you, you were dead.
Jackie M : Mm, briefly, yes.
Carrie Wells : Yeah. Not long enough.
Jackie M : Actually, I-I found oblivion... rather pleasant.
Carrie Wells : Oh, well, I could make you dead again. I should after what you did.
Jackie M : It was never personal.
Carrie Wells : Oh, that's not true, Jackie. Sometimes it's very personal.
Jackie M : I'm sorry you feel that way.
Carrie Wells : I'm not talking about me. I'm talking about you. And Victor. You're not cleaning up for him, are you? You're trying to hurt him. I don't know what he did to you, but is it worth killing thousands of people?
Jackie M : Depends what you imagine he did to me.
-
Jackie M : You know, truth is, you interest me.
Carrie Wells : Oh, yeah?
Jackie M : You're a strong woman. But I worry about you.
Carrie Wells : [amused laugh] You worry about me?
Jackie M : This violent temperament.
Carrie Wells : Ah.
Jackie M : If I may be so bold, I imagine myself a bit of a chemist.
Carrie Wells : Yes, I have seen your work.
Jackie M : In order for the mind to work well, you need the right chemistry in your body.
Carrie Wells : Oh.
Jackie M : You? You need more greens in your life. Would help you master your emotions, see more clearly. A green smoothie. That's it. That's where you need to start.
-
Agent Stone : [after letting Carrie talk to Jackie] Are you okay? What the hell was she going on about?
Carrie Wells : I don't know, but if I spend one more minute in there with her, I can't be responsible for what I'm gonna do.
-
Carrie Wells : Listen to me. I need to know what these mean.
Jay Lee : Yeah, sure. Uh, could you give me a clue?
Carrie Wells : Jackie gave them to me.
Jay Lee : I was watching you guys the whole time. I didn't see her pass anything to you.
Carrie Wells : She must have followed me this morning and left those numbers in a place I'd see, knowing I'd remember them if she needed me to.
Jay Lee : Whoa, whoa, wait a minute. She left messages in your memory?
Carrie Wells : It's a little more complicated than that, but essentially, yes.
Jay Lee : Oh. Okay, okay. But why is she telling you? If this could help her, why wouldn't she want the ICA guys to know?
Carrie Wells : Jay?
Jay Lee : Yeah?
Carrie Wells : If I needed two minutes alone with her - and I mean *alone* - could you get it for me? No-no cameras, no Tom and Jerry watching?
Jay Lee : That depends. If I needed it, could you get me immunity from federal prosecution?
Carrie Wells : Absolutely. We've got work to do.
-
Jackie M : [Carrie shows her a flash drive] Ah. Good work.
Carrie Wells : What's on it?
Jackie M : I couldn't break the encryption. Whatever it is, Victor wants it, and I want Victor.
Carrie Wells : Why are you telling me this? Why not the ICA guys?
Jackie M : They've been compromised.
Carrie Wells : Thorne and Stone?
Jackie M : I'm not sure who exactly, but someone in the ICA is working with Victor. They killed Sergei, not me. There's a code word: CALAMUS. Use it, and you'll find out everything you need to know.
Carrie Wells : Why are you telling me?
Jackie M : In my business, knowing whom to trust is a matter of life and death. I trust you. Victor buys people with money, with love, with fear. But you... you can't be bought. Am I wrong?
Carrie Wells : No. You, however, do have a price, and it wasn't hard to find out what it is. David, your son with Victor. Am I wrong?
-
Jackie M : Victor was never a father to David. But he's a jealous man. I wanted to leave him and leave Alpha Five, so he took my son from me. I thought he died with his father on that plane, but he didn't. And I want him back.
Carrie Wells : And you were gonna trade this for your son?
Jackie M : Victor needs it for his plan, and my son needs to live a free life. A normal boy, not like one of us.
Carrie Wells : How could your son ever hope to be normal, knowing you paid for his freedom with the lives of innocent people?
-
Carrie Wells : Jackie, I have the stick. I have you. Why should I help you?
Jackie M : Because you don't know Victor. He'll never give up, even if you have that. He'll find another one, or make another. Yes, I need your help. But you still need mine.
-
Jay Lee : So, what'd she say while the cameras were...
Al Burns : Overloaded? Yeah, I overheard.
Jay Lee : That was the best I could come up with. That Thorne guy scares me.
Carrie Wells : With good reason. According to Jackie, Thorne and Stone might be working with Victor.
Al Burns : What?
Carrie Wells : Yeah. We got to find out if she's right, and we've got to find out now.
Jay Lee : Hold on. We can't just go poking around the ICA. Those guys are real super-spooks.
Carrie Wells : She gave me a code word: CALAMUS. Find me something, Jay. Anything.
-
Carrie Wells : You made the right choice.
Jackie M : I know I have no right to ask anything of you, but... he shouldn't have to pay.
Carrie Wells : Well, I'll make sure to find him a home where he can live a normal life and be happy. Trust me.
Jackie M : I do.
