Perseverance pays off

I loved learning about Andrea Boccelli's life and am inspired by him, and admire and love him very much. The acting was very good, and Antonio Banderas was fabulous.
I was only disappointed with the fact, I am Italian and this was in English. The Queen's English spoken by Italians is dreadful and unnatural. I would have preferred English subtitles.

A wonderful and touching film

A strongly recommended film especially for those looking for an alternative to action-driven films with little substance. This is quite a drama tough so be ready for some tears or emotional moments.
Bocelli's lifestory is tough and makes quite an underdog story. For me, the drama was created and elevated by the relationship of Bocelli with four women these being his mother/primary school teacher/maestro's wife and his wife. These talented actors bring such a force of life into the film that I wish I could watch more of them in other films.
And the maestro, I never knew Banderas could be such an accomplished actor as I always took him for a showy pop actor. I was mistaken. It would be great to see him in more classical roles.

The most unnecessary hate for a movie I've ever seen

I'm not a fan of opera, and I don't know if I ever will. But this movie still had emotional moments, good acting from certain characters, and a great soundtrack (probably the best part). So why does this have 0% on Rotten Tomatoes?! It's honestly understandable if you didn't like this movie; there are actually a lot of flaws in this movie (some 1-dimensional characters, bad acting from most characters, etc.) but a 05 is a bit overdoing it, imo. But honestly, it's just a website. It's a decent film, imo, and an even better film if you enjoy Amos.
Very Enjoable & Inspirational Story

This is not a concert nor an authentic Italian movie experience. This is, however, a remarkable Americanized version of Amos'/Andre's struggles and triumphs in his early life. A must see for fans...and an inspirational story for all.
Why in English?

The sound of real silence

I don't understand some critics including those from magazines like Variety. Okay, this is not an arthouse movie, not even a mainstream one, but the story of a famous singer told in this way for better or for worse. In my opinion, a film that tells the story of the famous singer avoiding any exaggeration in a simple but correct way. This is what matters most of all. A movie to see.
Thoroughly enjoyed this film!

Yes, I confess to being an ardent Bocelli fan for the past 20 years. However, I thought that all the actors, especially that of the lead, performed their characters very well, and it was interesting to see the struggles of his early life. Andrea did not achieve real success until his late 30's, which is unusual in the music industry. A must for all his fans.
Silence to Save a Voice

Good story of the discovery of Andrea Bocelli, his youth, the "formative years," and his rise to music fame. There are gaps in the story, so we don't get everything that gets him from one place to another, but we can read between the scenes.
Interesting and entertaining movie

"The Music of Silence" is based on a book Bocelli wrote about his life.

Warning: Spoilers
Trust me on this one. Your going to love this film. "The Music of Silence" is based on a book Bocelli wrote about his life. If you are a fan of Andrea Bocelli, or love music, or maybe your in the mood for a little romance....or ......you just enjoy watching good film making. Of course if you are a fan of Antonio Banderas, and can't forget to mention that Toby Sebastian portrays Andrea. It definitely ups the odds this will make for an enjoyable excursion.
A quote:
"I believe in letting God's plans
run their course and I just trust
in him and try to follow the path
that he has laid down for me."
Better than expected

I started watching expecting to find a self celebrative auto biography with no inspiration, badly acted by italian tv actors. The movie is the transposition of a book by Bocelli on his own life. However the tone is not the one I expected to find.
The man did have a difficult life and sometimes caused part of his own problems. Many of the scenes from the childhood are sad. Effective. And natural. The scenery of Tuscany is a valuable actor around those scenes.
Some actors (the wife for instance) are not particularly good, but not so terrible either. The teacher, Banderas, was good.
In conclusion, the movie is watchable and could quite keep me watching it (and I am not really a Bocelli fan).

Heartwarming in places, disappointing in others

Although I found this film interesting, I feel they spent much more time on his years of angst and not near enough time on his career. They relegated his entire professional career to a slideshow of photos at the end of the movie. In this it was disappointing.
Some of the acting was good. Other was very two-dimensional and under-developed. All of the actors tried hard; I cannot say a one of them was a poor actor. They just weren't given much to work with.
The movie starts off somewhat disappointing in the voice they chose for the young boy. I have honestly heard better child singers on America's Got Talent. I mean no disrespect to the child singer... but whoever chose that quite unimpressive voice to highlight in this film served no purpose but to get the film off to a rocky start. They should have chosen a more professional and developed young male singing voice; that entire segment of film failed to deliver the punch and inspiration it needed. It was just not believable that such a mediocre child's voice would gain anyone's attention.
At the end, despite its length the film felt like it left great gaps in the story and seemed unfinished and unpolished. The entire movie somewhat limped along.
I am glad for those who enjoyed it and found it inspiring. I just don't feel it was written well enough nor directed well enough to deliver the message that so much needed to be delivered: to have faith and work to overcome all obstacles, no matter what. The entire movie is like a crescendo that doesn't quite reach its peak.

Incredible True Story Film

I am a fan of biopics and true story films and this is a sensational powerful and uplifting true story film for all viewers to watch and experience. This is an incredible true story film about one of the biggest names in the creative arts industry. I was born with a rare syndrome that contributes multiple disabilities and health problems and I as well am in the creative arts industry. I am a writer. I completely can relate to this film true story. People who are disadvantaged should be heard and seen more and be treated equally as everyone else. That is not the case in the world. I have been bullied and hated all of my life by everyone. It is time for stories like this to be heard and seen and give people who are disadvantaged a real opportunity. This is a spectacular true story film for everyone to watch.
Great inspirational and uplifting film.

I have enjoyed opera when exposed to it. This film expanded my heart. At the end, tears of joy were flowing down my cheeks. Thank you to all the talented actors and singers in this movie. Well done. I do believe I will become a fan of Andrea Bocelli. Amazing life and truly divinely inspired.
Amazing

I enjoyed this film more than I thought I would. I have listened to Andrea Boccelli I do not know much about his life. With that being said I do not know if the film is accurate but it was still great all the way through. I loved the music, the set, the actors. and the storyline overall. I thought the actors did a great job displaying an emotional story. The film made me want to listen to Boccelli again, I had forgotten how amazing his music is. Seeing the story made me understand the struggle and have a better appreciation.

Wonderful performances !!!
All the actors .
What a lovely story of a boy to man and all his obstacles .
The actress Elena does a great job. I was afraid they hadn't credited her but they call her Eleanor and he calls her Elena.
Regardless the film gives hope and the lesson of perseverance.
The fight in all of us to overcome our troubles or challenges.

Wonderful inspirational film

When this boy looses all his eyesight and his mother weeps, he feels great pain and sorrow that life as he knew it was lost. Schooling feel behind, and work was boring as a bar musician. But, when one person found him and noticed his talent and could help- he met this maestro that utterly changed his life- being blind. This movie should be a 10, but I'm rating it an 9 due to the factor that Amos was used as the name vs Andrea (the musician's opera singer's real name). Overall- the spirit and happiness in the movie - the passion- for opera was felt all throughout. No wonder, the real living person made opera come back into our homes from the love he felt from the music from his heart. "Silence of music" is heartfelt- you have to feel it, in order to sing it. This is a must-watch.
Outstanding!

We have always loved Andrea's music and recently loved him singing with his son and young daughter in New York. We just came upon this movie and gave it a try - so glad we did, it was beautiful and powerful! Sad for the negative reviews, we didn't see it that way at all. The young Amos did a wonderful job and his girlfriend then wife was outstanding and very believable.
Very special experience for us!! It was quite unexpected for us to see, so glad we watched. It was such a refreshing movie with what we saw as wonderful acting by the entire cast, could not have been more pleased. Thank you!

Wonderful Story

This story of Andrea Bocelli's struggles should be universal in its appeal to all. No foul language nor gratuitous violence nor cheap sex. His singing prowess shines. It is so far above the usual Hollywood fare and cannot help but provide inspiration. Don't miss it!
