Evil

Narcissist people are usually similar to this clown called "El Rey del cachopo" in Spain. A person who believes his own lies. The problem is when this person becames famous because an invention. Incredible.

First, I am Spaniard and I heard something about this story. After watching the mini series, the Truth is even worse than all the lies the media said. I don't want to spoil anything, but this case is absolutely infamous.

Second, I think the documentary is interesting, not because what happened, it is because the camera work, the real characters and without any hidden agenda apparently.

So, consequently I recommend this one if you have enjoyed "El Cuerpo en llamas" or "El Caso Nenúfar".

That's it?

Warning: Spoilers
The documentary itself is fine. Being a foreigner I didn't understand all the inside references, but I was able to follow most of the story. There might be few open questions that could have been covered with more depth, but overall I found it to be quite good.

However, I am writing this review/post just to ask one question. That's it? For killing someone, robbing them of all the happiness and dreams, destroying the lives of their family and friends and dismembering their body (few body parts missing) which gave disturbing last memories to them and caused insult to the victim..all you have is a sentence of 15 years? That's it? I thought the judicial system of the UK was bad, but I think that of Spain is worse. Can't believe it.

A Case Study in Delusion
efardette12 May 2024
This Cesar Roman character lives in a world separate and apart from reality. He's in his own head and can't seem to get out of it. One of those people who believes he's right, and it's the rest of the world that's wrong.

This docu-series was pretty well produced, using the words and testimonies from the actual subjects. The English speaking actors were decent. As they were used in overdubbing the Spanish language. I thought it had a nice flow and all of the content was relevant to the case.

What's sad is a young lady lost her life while seeking a better life. And she was murdered in very grotesque way.

It was worth the time invested to watch all three episodes. 6.5/10.

Typical drawn out Netflix doc

Warning: Spoilers
Three long episodes that could have been done in one easily. Jealous boyfriend kills girlfriend who was leaving him. And he was a bs artitis and was semi famous. Big deal. The most shocking part of the story is according to Spanish law they could only give him 15 years max. So as in other things that absolutely have to be about ten times longer than they need to be for no apparent reason other than the vein glory of the pretentious people in absolute charge of the project. Character counting and minutes on screen are apparently correlated on some type form or fashion. When shorter reviews and shorter documentaries would suffice.

2 episodes too long!

This documentary has 3 episodes, but the story could have been told in just 1 (like they do with the 'Homicide Hunter' episodes). It was extremely drawn-out and for the most part, boring. I really struggled to stay engaged, which is sad considering it's a true story about a young lady who lost her life at the hands of a narcissistic sociopath. To make matters worse, his prison sentence was appalling!

For the above reason of it being a painfully slow docu-series, I would not recommend it to family or friends.

In my opinion, 3-part docu-series "American Nightmare" is exceptionally well done, and holds the viewers interest. I would recommend watching that instead.

Unfortunately one more sad story. True story. One more reminder how short this life is. But this is great for all the girls to see what kind of people they must avoid. I won't give spoilers. Watch and learn. Story is "great" I mean it's realistic and they did really good job with interviewing real people. But crucial fact it's really really wrong. And maybe people can react now and try to protest in Spain for him to spent his lifetime in prison. Justice failed in this case and that's a big disappointment for one country like Spain 🇪🇸 People from Spain do something this is your chance to react.

How To Make a Documentary 101.
nagyannade22 May 2024
I am very displeased with the kind of film-making delivered here. It is almost funny that the movie actually "floods" you; you are made to listen to the most annoying chime 36+ times while literally reading through a thread of short, online messages. Granted those messages are important in uncovering the story, that is not the way you share information with the audience unless you want to irritate the hell out of them. I would have much rather read the story somewhere online as the sloppy storytelling did nothing to give me a coherent picture of what had happened. I might get frustrated way too easily but I turned it off due to the fact that instead of well written narration with illustration, I was reading stuff on the screen while cringing every time I heard a phone ping.

Oh how the mighty fall!

Warning: Spoilers
This part-documentary, part-fictionalized account of one narcissist's rapid rise and downfall proves that because of his outsized ego, he doomed himself. This show was perhaps a bit too long with too many repetitive scenes and prolonged interviews with too many people, but celebrity brings out the need for so many to be part of this circus. What was clear is that although the victim was clearly not the innocent sweet young daughter her mother wanted her to still be, she was definitely naive and vulnerable to such a con artist and obvious psychopath. What was truly shocking was how many people were taken in by his superficial charm and bizarre stories, without questioning anything, even his various lawyers. This murderer got away with so much because far too many people around him wanted to be close to this self-invented personality and his short-lived 'fame'. A sad commentary on how much influence 'celebrities' have in today's world. Overcompensation for his small stature and his dysfunctional upbringing were brought up in explaining his later actions and lies and so I would say, watch this and see how his own words finally revealed what an empty vessel he truly was. Too many women, especially those looking for 'rescue' will continue to fall victim to these types unless they have either a place to turn to or a strong support system. Heydi seems to have had lost her way in life and for this she paid a high price indeed. Cesar's life is now a reality over which he no longer has any control, finally. A fairly well-made and thorough telling of this sordid and sad tragedy that took the life of an immigrant at a time when so many are in the same situation.
