According to some critics this was Steven's tightest performance yet. Steven disagreed, saying he could've gone deeper, longer, and harder in his scenes.
Eventhough Michael Jai White appears on some of the posters he is only in the movie for one scene.
Steven Seagal and Michael Jai White previously worked together in the 2001 action film, Exit Wounds (2001).
For the chase scene, a stunt double was used for Steven Seagal. Seagal, weighing in at 987 pounds, fell through the seat of the truck and down onto the concrete. He was rocking back and forth crying as he had a scrape on his leg. The director, recognizing the seriousness of this, grabbed a person from the costume department, dressed him as Seagal, and had him serve as the stunt double. Seagal was finally able to calm down after the director gave him a happy meal from McDonald's. However, Steven was choking on the happy meal toy and went unconscious. Everyone was celebrating until Seagal started crying uncontrollably yet again. The director was finally able to quiet him by getting him 20 boxes of Little Ceaser's Pizza. He went into a food coma from this, and was later taken to the hospital where he was found to have an enlarged heart.
In a very rare act of generosity, Seagal ordered some food from a local restaurant for the cast as the quality of food available from craft services was particularly poor. However when the delivery of food arrived, Seagal realised he'd left his wallet at home, which was hundreds of miles away. After an awkward exchange between the delivery guy and a red faced Seagal, the cast agreed to chip in and pay for the food, including Seagal's, which included two trifles and was a much larger order than everyone else's. Despite costing everyone else a fairly substantial amount of money for their lunch break, Seagal ate for free that day. Allegedly, Seagal just stared at everyone as he waited for the cast and crew to thank him for his kind gesture. He ate alone in his trailer and was over two hours late returning to set.
