- SUNNY'S family who lives in a forested area mansion in Australia takes in a homeless man named DHAR and his spouse, DULSIE, in exchange for supernatural protection that Dhar claims to be able to provide from talismans and amulets. Sunny's sons, WILLIE and FRED have their doubts about the newcomers, so they encourage their father to kick Dhar and Dulsie out. But, before he has a chance to, all three of them are brutally murdered under mysterious circumstances. The only one left behind is LUCKY, Willie's wife.
Stuck in the house with Dhar and Dulsie, Lucky fears for her life and reaches out to her old college friend, HADIYA, for help. Hadiya, her husband BRAD, and their children DON and AMBER travel to Sunny's mansion to support Lucky. But as Dhar's control over the household intensifies, the guests become haunted by eerie occurrences and nightmares. It starts to become tricky to distinguish between what is real and what is a hallucination. Lucky explains that Dhar is behind these occurrences; that it is all part of his manipulative master plan to gain total control over her.
Lucky's not allowed to leave the premises, or terrible things will happen. Dhar wants Hadiya and her family to leave, but Hadiya won't be intimidated. The standoff escalates from psychological to physical when the nightmares bleed into real life. With the help of Dulsie, Dhar tortures Lucky and Brad in his barbaric style and Brad eventually suffers a horrible death. Hadiya armed with a gun bursts into Dhar and Dulsie in a bid to avenge Brad's murder. Amid the battle, though she manages to kill Dulsie, Dhar again has his day and shoots Hadiya which prevents her motive to rescue Lucky.
Lucky remains helpless as her hands and legs are tied with a rope. Dhar in a rage of revenge threatens to end Lucky when he comes back and sets foot to deal with the two other living souls on the premises; the kids. When he finally comes for the children, though they act smart and brave, Dhar seems too tough to handle. It's only a matter of time before Dhar attempts to strangle Don to death, and suddenly, injury-struck Lucky appears from nowhere and overpowers Dhar by cutting off the talisman from which he draws his power. Thereafter, the mansion becomes the place of the dead.
To get away from it all, Lucky and the rest reside in a neighbourhood totally in contrast to the isolated forest area of the mansion. Lucky reveals her plans to live a peaceful life as one family, and the kids are all smiles. Hadiya, in a wheelchair, recovers from the gunshot wounds. Inner peace and happiness are evident in their new lifestyle, and as they gather to commemorate the second month of Brad's passing, something strange occurs to the pet Rooster of Lucky immediately after their prayer ends. Thus, the finale reminds us of the dangerous effects of mantra chants that can go wrong.
