Keisha Castle-Hughes: Special Agent Hana Gibson

Quotes

  • Special Agent Sheryll Barnes : Is Manny a delusional stalker?

Special Agent Ray Cannon : Nah, it's probably jealousy. Walt's worth over 8 million in NIL deals and sponsorships. The NCAA used to make all of the money off the talent of the players, all right? But the athletes were students, so they can't get paid. They weren't allowed to make money off of their hard work.

Special Agent Hana Gibson : Well, until a few years ago, they changed the rules, and then student athletes could profit off their personal brands.

Special Agent Ray Cannon : Players are now allowed to make money off of their name, image, and likeness.

Special Agent Nina Chase : Yeah, I read an article about a gymnast at Amherst. She makes, like, $50,000 off of every sponsored post.

Special Agent Sheryll Barnes : And how good was Manny? If he wasn't injured and he wasn't dropped, could he be as successful as Walt?

Special Agent Ray Cannon : As a high school prospect, he ranked amongst the top 50 point guards in the country. He could have made a couple million easy.

  • Special Agent Ray Cannon : This coach gets a lot of love from his former players. He's got a bunch of cards and thank-you letters.

Special Agent Hana Gibson : Well, at least he's getting it from somewhere because he's not getting it anywhere else. He's on five different dating sites.

Special Agent Ray Cannon : You gotta shoot your shots somewhere.

  • Special Agent Hana Gibson : Okay. Why does he have Walt's birth certificate? You know he was born in Ottawa?

Special Agent Ray Cannon : He's Canadian?

Supervisory Special Agent Remy Scott : Felton went to Walford.

Special Agent Hana Gibson : Well, that might explain why Coach Nathan has a hidden hard drive filled with Walt's personal documents.I just found his Canadian birth certificate. There are some photos here. This is a petition from when he changed his name from Walt Felstone to Walt Felton. These are adoption papers. Around the same time he legally changed his name,Walt was also adopted by Coach Nathan.

  • Special Agent Hana Gibson : Walt is raised by a devoted single mother who never misses a game. But then she lets Coach Nathan adopt him four years ago after he changes his name?

Special Agent Ray Cannon : I don't think she let him. I think she asked him to.

Special Agent Sheryll Barnes : Why?

Special Agent Ray Cannon : Money. I'm reading the NIL rules here. You have to be a U.S. citizen to profit off of them.

Special Agent Nina Chase : So his mom gets Coach Nathan to agree...

Special Agent Ray Cannon : Yeah, Coach watches Walt play, knows he's gonna be a big star, figures he's gonna get a piece of the pie when the NIL money starts rolling in.

Special Agent Hana Gibson : I ran Coach Nathan's financials, and nothing popped. I mean, he makes barely 50K a year and lives within his means.

Special Agent Sheryll Barnes : I get none of this is illegal, but doesn't this all go against his "good boy" image? I mean, his PR team must work hard to keep this all a secret.

Special Agent Nina Chase : Unless they don't know. You know, the adoption papers are sealed. And when you search "Walt Felton," nothing about Walter Felstone from Ottawa came up.

Special Agent Nina Chase : Yeah, but none of this explains why Manny is targeting Coach.

Supervisory Special Agent Remy Scott : He's not. Walt was always the target. Think about it. Coach adopts Walt thinking that he's gonna get some of Walt's riches, and he doesn't. Then two months ago, Coach gets an even bigger slap in the face. Walt basically writes him out of his will... after everything Coach has done for him.

Special Agent Ray Cannon : Yeah, I'm sure that pissed him off. But Walt did make Coach the executor of his will, right?

Supervisory Special Agent Remy Scott : Right. Under New York law, the executor gets a commission for overseeing the will. It's a percentage of the total estate value. And given what Walt is worth, we're talking big-ass money.

Special Agent Nina Chase : Yeah, that's a big-ass reason to want Walt dead.

Supervisory Special Agent Remy Scott : That's where Manny comes in. Coach was never about his players being family. He uses them, exploits them... probably even jealous of them. And he goes to Manny and manipulates this poor kid. He knew he was back from New Zealand, injured, hopeless, depressed, broke. He goes to him, and he says,if you kill Walt, I'll give you a cut of the executor's fee to do it.

Special Agent Ray Cannon : All right, so they're both thinking Walt got his, they need to get theirs.

Special Agent Sheryll Barnes : You're saying that Manny and the coach are working together, and they staged this kidnapping?

Supervisory Special Agent Remy Scott : I'd bet the damn farm on it.

  • Special Agent Hana Gibson : Well, he has a $2 million shoe contract. Maybe he'll be okay.

Special Agent Nina Chase : I don't get that. I mean, we tell these kids, go get the brass ring, and then they do, and we vilify them and let the system screw them over. It just makes no sense.

Special Agent Ray Cannon : Yeah, let them get what they earn, right? Yeah. Sucks, though. His adoption secret is out now.

Supervisory Special Agent Remy Scott : We love to forgive our stars and athletes, and he's both.
