"Redemption" is a 26-minute live action short film from 2013, so it will have its 5th anniversary next year. It is a collaboration between 4 European countries and as a consequence it consists of several segments in various languages, which means that you will need subtitles unless you really are a multilingual talent. Interestingly enough, for me personally too due to my origin, the German part is narrated by Maren Ade, the director of the recently Oscar-nominated Toni Erdmann. She is also a producer. The director of this work here is Miguel Gomes and I think he did a fine job overall. This looks like a meaningful, intelligent movie from start to finish and I certainly liked what I saw and heard here. It fit well together and I believe they managed nicely to narrate extremely personal stories that nonetheless feel relevant and interesting to random audiences. That is the main reason why I recommend checking this one out. It was close to greatness and I think you should see it. It is certainly not a film that is one for the big awards ceremonies, but I am actually glad it found some recognition in its niche. I give it a thumbs-up for sure.
