A dark experience!
and_mikkelsen3 April 2024
This was a great, at times haunting, episode that gave us even more insight into Project Necromancer, the extent of it and how the empire has no limits when it comes to achieving their goal!

This episode was darker than most and even a bit emotional, as the inclusion of children really changed it all! This is the kind of episodes where you really start to hate the empire and wants to see our characters suceed!

Another great CW character returns and his inclusion makes sense as he has done this job before in another CW storyline from season two!

Emerie also gets some screentime and we see through her just how far the empire is going this time!

I am glad this is a two-parter cause I am excited for the next!

Bane's still stealing kids for Palpatine!
moritzherz3 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
After the last two episodes were below our expectations this week's double feature has to set things right and the first part does a great job achieving this goal.

We are back on Tantiss were Kara overtakes the supervision of children with high M-counts. These "specimen", how the empire calls them, are force sensitive and serve project necromancer. And the empire cannot get enough of them...

This is were the legendary bounty hunter Cad Bane steps in. I knew it was him, just by listening to the sounds of his boots. This is one of my favorite Star Wars characters of all time!

He and Todo capture a force sensitive child and give it to the empire.

So, if you are a true Star Wars fan, this will sound familiar to you. In fact Bane did this before, in The Clone Wars. There was this episode were he stole a child and brought it to Mustafar, where Palpatine had a collection of force sensitive babies. So the project necromancer has been there all the time. Masterclass storytelling I call that!

At the end of the episode Hamlock is informed by the special fbi clone agent that he tracked down the pirate helping the Bad Batch sometimes. This is the beginning of the end.

I am relieved to see that Dave Filoni and his crew set things straight with the audience. There are only 5 episodes left of our precious childhood. Let's enjoy the ride together!

Very interesting

Warning: Spoilers
On par with the first episode of the season, this episode is slow paced and thought provoking and very well done imo. I loved the first episode and I like the way this season has tried to give at least an episode of set up before major events.

Again, music and visuals. Amazing. Goes without saying at this point

The character development of Emeri (is that spelt right?) is good here and even though I'm sure it's setting her up to help the batch, seeing her on the fence in this episode and challenged is good to watch. They use the Red kid's name well as a way of showing Emeri's conflict. The giving of the doll was good too.

They delivered some heavy exposition which is my main critique with the episode as it's a little on the nose but needed I guess.

What I really liked was the visual story telling which was on par with the first ep this season. Showing not telling is rare in this show given the target audience so seeing it well done like this is great to see.

I look forward to the pay off after this set up episode.

Issa crisis

Very good.

I suppose Emerie's arc in this season has been fairly predictable. Obviously she's a level-headed individual in the wrong place, and obviously she'll figure out how to make the right choice and get these children out, and more than likely assist our title characters at some point. It still made for a great episode though. I love it when these Star Wars shows get mature and aren't talking down to the audience either. And they also show off the series' best production in terms of editing and music.

Cad Bane stealing another child(!) is so heartbreaking! I always get so emotionally invested whenever there's some form of child endangerment. Bane is a cool character though.

I find it interesting that this may have tied up a loose end from Clone Wars S2 when he was kidnapping force-sensitive children for Palpatine then as well. I always assumed that was because Palps just wanted to bring the children over to the dark side, but this implies that it could easily have been a part of Project Necromancer now. It's kind of clever if that's the case.

Either way, this was a great change of pace. I've enjoyed just about every episode of this season so far!

Finally Picking Back Up!
jasjkasjkasla4 April 2024
I'll be honest after episode 3 I feel like this season has been very meh in a lot of ways. I just overall feel like the storytelling, character work and writing of most episodes left a lot to be desired among other issues, however with this episode we seem to finally be getting back on track! While nothing amazing or anything and the character work is still meh the storytelling and plot developments are quite good. I think this episode had a lot of interesting aspects and was well paced. The episode also did a pretty decent job at setting up future conflicts! Overall a good episode, I hope from this point on good will be the norm!

Boring episode
scottmannen14 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I dont know why this episode is receiving such high scores, it was straight up boring. We learned nothing new,,,,,the Empire experiments on children? We already knew this except the new twist is they are experimenting on more of them then before in project Necromancer. This was basically the entire episode....the empire collecting and experimenting on children for their m-count.

No action, no jedi or force powers, no Bad Batch for that matter, no protagonist girl and no Ventriss. Basically we got nothing new and nothing interesting.

The highlight of this show was the appearance of Cad Bane capturing a child for the Empire. Even that was boring. Its very obvious where the story is going because they make it so predictable. The Lab Director clone woman who is now running all the experiments is going to eventually betray the Empire, release the children and more than likely sacrifice herself along the way. We can all see it coming, in fact we could see this from many episodes ago.

5/10 on this one folks.

Identity Crisis? Yeah the show is definitely having one
jaxxds4 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
This episode can be summed up as Cad Bane is still abducting force sensitive children for Palpatine, Emerie has a conscious and doesn't like experimenting on children, and the clone assassin is still hunting down Omega.

This episode was just a bore to watch outside of seeing Cad Bane again. At least he steals any scene he's in. There's really not much to even say about the episode. This show is just OBSESSED with project necromancer so it can try to loosely explain "somehow Palpatine returned" in The Rise of Skywalker, aka a famously horrible line that is almost universally mocked. It would have been way better if star wars pretended like that never happened and in this show Palpatine is having children abducted to further expand the ranks of the Inquisitorius. Now that could have been cool. But no, we get this show desperately trying to make it seem like the sequel movies make sense and connect to the rest of star wars. I don't even know what the show is trying to tell story-wise anymore. Is this a show about the bad batch trying to live in a post republic galaxy where they are no longer soldiers but the empire is hunting them down because of Omega? Is this a show about how important Omega is to everything? Is this a show that's about what Rex and Echo are trying to do in terms of freeing clones? Or is it just one giant attempt at making Palpatine being alive again make sense? Even the show cannot decide. Toward the end of the episode we find out that the clone assassin found Cid and made her tell him where to find the bad batch so she told him about Phi, who he's now tracking down. My question is, if Hemlock is so concerned about getting Omega back, how about maybe sending more than one clone assassin to hunt her down? I know Hemlock says the other clone assassins aren't ready to join the one yet but can't he send a few squads of clone commandos to hunt Omega down too? Also we see that Tarkin isn't happy that Hemlock is eating up so much of the empire's funds but Hemlock just tells him that the project being conducted is classified and extremely important to the emperor. Then Tarkin just tells him that if his project does not yield results it won't end well for the Tantiss facility or Hemlock. Which makes you wonder, if we accept that Palpatine can and does come back from the dead, but way after Hemlock (has likely) died, did he use the clone bodies Hemlock made or did Palps just use the research to make his own? I bet that will never be explained.

1/10 episode but +1 for Cad Bane.
