Are you ready for more exciting post-apocalyptic sci-fi? An excellent Brazilian short film titled Lunatique has arrived online in full after playing at numerous film festivals, including the Sitges Film Festival most recently. The short is directed by cinematographer-turned-filmmaker Gabriel Kalim Mucci, and it's set in a gritty, desolate, ash-covered world. The story is about one lonely woman (Lila Guimaraes) struggling to survive in this world, but she looks quite badass, kind of a bit like Ripley from Aliens. This short has some excellent production design and solid VFX work, which makes it even more thrilling to see. Worth a watch. Original synopsis on Vimeo: "Lunatique is a short science fiction film about a lonely woman who struggles daily for survival in a post apocalyptic world." Lunatique is written & directed by up-and-coming Brazilian filmmaker Gabriel Kalim Mucci, who previously worked as a cinematographer on the other short film Akai previously.

We first caught sight of Gabriel Kalim Mucci's Lunatique when an impressive trailer for the short film appeared.
It stars Lila Guimaraes as a nameless woman who struggles daily to stay alive in a post-apocalyptic world and features some impressive production design, probably some of the best I've ever seen in an independently produced short film though when one considers Mucci's background is cinematography, it should come as no surprise that the project looks incredible.
After a year-long festival run, Lunatique is now streaming. But don't just hit play on your phone. You'll want to watch this on a large screen with the sound turned up. [Continued ...]...

This looks like a cool little sci-fi short worth waiting for. There's a trailer going around for a Brazilian sci-fi / post-apocalyptic short film called Lunatique, and it's impressive for only 60 seconds. The short is directed by cinematographer-turned-filmmaker Gabriel Kalim Mucci, and it's set in a gritty, desolate, ash-covered world. The story is about one lonely woman struggling to survive in this world, but she looks quite badass, kind of almost like Ripley from Aliens. Spotted this simply stunning post-apocalyptic trailer over at ScreenAnarchy this morning. A striking, ash-covered world that looks like it's been built from the ground up, the film boasts some pretty incredible production design. With so much emphasis on verisimilitude these days it feels like we haven't seen this kind of world building in the Pa film in a long time.

Though we didn't know his name we've been admiring the work of Gabriel Kalim Mucci in these parts for years. Mucci first crossed our desk as the cinematographer on Carlos Ganaian's fabulous short film Akai and he moves now into the director's chair with post-acpocalyptic scifi short film Lunatique. the level of design work and production value here is truly remarkable, with - at least for this short glance - Mucci feeling like a true world builder. Can't wait to see the full short but in the meantime take a look at the trailer below!...
