- Kiera and Carlos must stop Travis after he gets his hands on Elena's CPS suit, while Alec and Emily try to escape the mysterious Freelancers and deal with a revelation about his past that could change everything.
- Kiera and Carlos are trying to locate CSIS Agent Gardner but learn that the law firm he was to visit does not exist. Carlos finds his body in the trunk of his car and CSIS believes Kiera is responsible. Alec has been working on the time travel device and is certain that once he's learned a bit more about it, he could recreate any moment in time. That's good news for Kiera, despite Alec's warning that history has already been changed and there is no guarantee about what she may find in the future. Escher tells Emily he will free her of any obligations if she gets him the sphere Alec has in his lab. Kellog learns about Emily's background and arranges for Travis to have access to the lab. Alec learns the identity of his biological father.—garykmcd
- In 2077 Kiera and her partner are called to a public square where a SadTech engineer has been found dead. They have the system replay a composite reconstruction of the crime from security camera footage. The see the murdered tech argue with a blurry figure and then get shot when she walks away. They conclude that someone is using advanced technology to blur their image on the security cameras. Kiera reports this to her supervisor as well as her concerns that this might have something to do with the upcoming execution but she is told to drop the case and that it has been "kicked upstairs".
In 2013, Kiera meets with Carlos and expresses her continuing concern over Gardner's disappearance. She explains that she checked out Fisker Legal, the last place Gardner was known to be, and found it closed. Carlos informs Kiera that Lucas Ingraham has grown increasingly unstable in the mental hospital. Kiera worries that she may end up suffering from the same problems as Lucas and Jason. She contacts Alec to try and get him to help find Gardner but he continues to refuse to hack the CSIS servers. Instead he informs Kiera that he thinks he has figured out the time travel machine and could possibly send her home.
Meanwhile, Kellog meets with Sonya to press her on why she hasn't eliminated Esher yet. She threatens to inform Travis of his whereabouts if he presses her too hard. Kellog contends that Travis would rather kill her, but Travis himself shows up and attacks Kellog. As Travis begins to strangle him, Kellog explains that he could be useful to their cause.
Carlos gets called to a crime scene by a fellow cop. The detective explains that a car had been sitting abandoned for weeks and shows Carlos an ID which was found inside belonging to Gardner. When they open the trunk they discover Gardner's corpse. The other detective finds a thumb drive in Gardner's jacket, but Carlos convinces him to let Carlos handle it. He takes the thumb drive to Betty but she discovers that there's no encryption. Instead the thumb drive contains information on Gardner's attempts to link Kiera to Liber8.
Emily meets with Escher and demands to be let free. Escher agrees to let her go, "no repercussions" if she delivers the ARC device to him. Later Emily is accosted on the street by Kellog who tells her that he has uncovered her past as a woman named Mia who had several run ins with the law and disappeared eighteen months before after the death of her boyfriend. Kellog demands that she help him or he will tell Alec.
Kiera meets with Alec who tells her that he needs a powerful power source for the ARC device to work. The only one with such a source in this time is Escher. Kiera agrees to contact him. When she returns to work, Carlos warns her off. Soon afterwards CSIS calls him in and lays out their case against Kiera. After being threatened with prosecution, Carlos agrees to help them find Kiera.
Emily returns to Alec's lab and explains that she has to leave for a few weeks. Alec offers to come with her and begins to pack, taking the ARC device with him. Before he leaves he receives a message on the genetic test he ordered. Jason is a 99.9% genetic match, meaning that he is Alec's father. As they prepare to leave, Travis enters the lab and confronts them. Emily attacks Travis but is subdued. Travis demands that Alec reactivate his CMR and hook it into Kiera's suit. Alec reluctantly agrees to do so and activates Travis' CMR. However, he flips a switch and temporarily overloads it, allowing him and Emily to escape. But the procedure was a success and Travis is now linked to Kiera's suit.
During the procedure Alec links to Kiera's CMR and she hears what's going on as she meets with Escher to secure a power source for the ARC. She races to Alec's lab but arrives too late. Instead she tracks down Kellog who admits to working with Travis but insists that Escher is the real enemy now and that Travis will use the suit to eliminate him. He also reveals that Emily is working for Escher. Alec calls Kiera and explains that he and Emily escaped and are heading to Jason's place to hide out. Kellog calls Carlos and informs him of this. Carlos slips a tail from CSIS and goes to meet up with them.
At Jason's, Alec asks him about his relationship with Alec's mother. Jason admits to being in love with her and insists that he left to protect Alec but kept watch over him from afar. Emily admits to working for Escher but tells Alec that she is in love with him. Jason realizes that the Freelancers could theoretically track Alec through the ARC device and Emily says they need to leave. Just then Carlos and Kiera burst into the loft. They tell Alec that Emily is working for Escher but Alec says he already knows. Emily says that she wanted to flee the country so that she and Alec could be together. When she asks about the ARC device, Alec explains, over Kiera's objections, that it is a time travel device. Emily suggests destroying it so that Escher will have no further interest in them. Alec agrees, but Kiera objects, arguing that he should send her home first. Before they can decide anything a group of Escher's Freelancers burst in.
Holding the group at gunpoint, the Freelancers force them to disarm. However, when they try to grab the ARC device, Emily attacks one of them and a general gun battle ensues. Two of the Freelancers seem to be shot and killed but stand up a few moments later and continue fighting. Kiera, Emily, Carlos, Alec and Jason flee onto the rooftops of the building, pursued by the Freelancers. Kiera and Emily find themselves pinned down by gunfire from three of the Freelancers. Emily takes the ARC and throws it off the rooftop. Kiera runs after it and the Freelancers shoot Emily who dies in Alec's arms.
Afterwards Kiera returns to the lab but finds Alec gone. She drops the ARC into a container and hooks herself up to the computer to resync her CMR. Meanwhile Alec goes to Picon Corporation and Escher has him sent up to meet him.
