A deliberately paced sci-fi short depicting one woman alone in space.

A must watch for any sci-fi fan, particularly for those who are partial to Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey. Playing with light, shadow, and clever sound design, Contact: Lost is a hypnotic experience that allows you to appreciate the details that went into this production. A profound sense of loneliness is portrayed without saying a word. The only recognizable dialogue we get drones from the emotionless on board computer, devoid of empathy or understanding. In my opinion, it was the willingness to stray from textbook techniques that gives this piece its flavour. Not to mention the sheer disregard for the idea that sci-fi requires a high budget to be effective. The detail in the model ship as well as the cockpit and guts of the ship allowed me to forget that this was made for next to no money. It is a real achievement that this crew should be proud of. I look forward to seeing what is next for these young filmmakers.
