Lost in Translation: From Intriguing Premise to Bland Imitation
koso-15-83111311 February 2024
A film that has an interesting premise, but ultimately falls flat due to its lack of originality and inconsistent execution. The story feels like a been-there-done-that rehash of other films and TV series, and never really offers anything new or exciting. The acting is also subpar, with some of the actors delivering wooden performances. The cinematography is also inconsistent, with a mix of overexposed daytime scenes, underexposed nighttime scenes, and desaturated scenes. Additionally, a boom mic is visible in one scene set inside a police station.

One of the biggest problems is its lack of originality. The story is a tired retread of familiar tropes and clichés, and never really feels fresh or engaging. The characters are also one-dimensional and underdeveloped, making it difficult to care about what happens to them.

The acting is also a major letdown. Some of the actors deliver wooden performances that lack any emotional depth or conviction. Others seem to be overacting, mugging for the camera in an attempt to compensate for the weak material.

The cinematography is also inconsistent. Some scenes are well-shot and visually appealing, while others are poorly lit and composed. The color grading is also all over the place, with some scenes being overly saturated and others being desaturated.

Overall, is a disappointing film that fails to live up to its potential. The story is unoriginal, the acting is subpar, and the cinematography is inconsistent. If you're looking for a good movie to watch, I would recommend looking elsewhere.
