Meet the orphaned and at-risk children from Liberia, West Africa, living in poverty, hoping to get selected for a choir that will tour the USA to try and get 1,000 free schooling. Joanna and Jessica, teenage sisters, describe living in a brothel. Janjay (13) shares how she sells on the street to survive. Alvina (18), a leader and former choir kid, tells of a life of insecurity and her dream of attending school. Meshach (22) discusses his journey from the street to medical college.

The importance of music in Liberia is explained by former choir kid Ester (21), who tells how her mother could not send her from school and is now training to be a doctor. Miracle (15) aims to change Uncle Jimmy's life. Faith tells of escaping a life of crime and danger. Masse (15) describes how she is trying to avoid an unwanted marriage to fulfill her dream of becoming an accountant. The choir gives a surprise performance in one of Monrovia's elite hotels, and Choir Director Zach ponders on which children to select.

The choir is selected for the USA tour and invited to meet Liberia's Nobel Peace Prize winner, perform for the president, and appear on national radio. The choir also visits a group of teenage survivors of sexual abuse who share their horrific stories which led to them forming the STOP-GBV support group. An incident with Faith may lead to her being withdrawn from the team.

Before leaving for the United States the choir visits the Rockhill Community in Liberia. As they travel to the USA, they experience many new experiences as they adapt to life in the USA, performing in many iconic locations. Christina (15) and Melvina (20) share how their family lives during the rainy season. While in California, the choir is reunited with old friends and receives an unexpected invitation to perform the Star Spangled Banner at American Football Stadium.

As the choir travels across 41 states in the USA, bringing love and joy everywhere they go, they struggle to hit their target of 1,000 educational sponsors. An unexpected encounter led to a sell-out performance with some of the world's best jazz musicians in New York City. The team is rocked by Gabriel's fears of returning to Liberia. The series ends with some emotional scenes.
