Massachusetts State Senator Joseph F. Timilty filed an FCC complaint claiming that WCVB tried to "manipulate the voting public" with the content of this episode. He claimed the characters were more favorable toward his political opponent Mayor Kevin White and referred to Timilty as "milquetoast" and a "pervert". The FCC ultimately rejected the complaint.
The first verse of this episode's theme song: "Timilty wants debates but the mayor just balks / Hurts his image whenever he talks / Stock market's sinkin', hittin' the floor / 'Bout time the wealthy hurt like the poor"
