the Best disappointment, that i would watch again
chancer-573255 April 2024
Don't get twisted, Power rangers cosmic fury in terms of writing, acting, and set is good, and while i would recommend it... it has been held back horribly on 4 accounts.

Its clear Netflix walked into the franchise without stopping to think of what one proper season will cost, most of what is wrong in the other 2 points by Hanlons Razor, and netflix not being willing to give the project enough funding would not be, might be excusable, if it were not for the star performances across the board, this is a space season, and only Dinosar seasons got enough of the spotlight to mean anything, all the classic megazords where there, but what of the SWAT flyers from spd? What about the galleon? Poor funding is why as is the reason why we don't see them... and why the other 2 issues are even problems. This is in quotes because while original, and cosmic fury is beautiful for it.... it would have benefited with the choices made to go all the way with being original, rather then slamming the door on a future super sentai adaptation to power rangers by using the zords and monsters. The Zord footage and most of the monsters come from Uchu Sentai Kyuranger. Which looks start to finish as the type of super sentai series that would have been perfect for cheap adaptation, only needing translation to be the perfect power rangers season, and 2000 hours of work at most for orignal footage, with political drama from a tyrannical empire, and rebels trying to fix it for al diplomatic avenues have already been exhausted. We have a charismatic yet Queer coded alien mentor who is actually strait. The red and Blue ranger who ether become the best of bros, or if the translation is literal, gay lovers. A fight between 2 brothers, driven by corruption and vengeance tied to a pro wrestler robot who has become a real boy and wants revenge for his fathers death. A android who learned to fight and fly, the best emo ever and his plucky golden sidekick, and lastly in saving the world, everyone gets a happy ending, as they are forced to stop with the rebellion and help rebuild, everyone save for red and blue rangers who are on a road trip and only make it to the reunion at the end because they got lost, which the red ranger getting lost is how he joined the team in the first place, lucky son of a gun... I, after seeing the original, would have been overjoyed with just this. Instead we got a continuation of the story of dino furry, which by blending stock footage and the original, it wound up being a cooler, albeit sanitized original story as a plausible sequel story to the untold proper adaptation to ryu-soldier, only in victory, the knights of Raphcon needed to quarantine there sector for over a billion years, and created the enemy the whatever that is to them judging by the fact at least 2 wound up being the bad guys... and unlike our hero they where never in stasis, ending with the second series where our villains where redeemed, going back to being a family again with the pink ranger, who surprise... was a alien too, just like the red and gold. Still ending the recap and going to the now, Zedd is still in play and has with the help of a evil corporation, has the army for conquest again... and after outmaneuvering the rangers... and corupting the blue ranger to turn on the team, and not even the power of love can help here.... the rangers lose there powers in an ambush... all is great, but villains from the sentai, and even those who were rangers... are nerfed and defeated too easy, as if they were never warriors and are only doing this because there rich and famous friend/boss talked them into it. Devaluating the series and weakening it at large after seeing what the monsters were supposed to be, with only "the butler" getting what he deserved as a villainous showing.

Better would have been scrounging up 20,500 more dollars for the budget, not taking from Uchu Sentai Kyuranger at all (or if we include Dino Fury, Ressha Sentai ToQger, void queens appearance while fitting closed another door), focusing on previous seasons exclusively for the monsters with alterations to make them original, or resurrections by lord Zedd... and actually being completely original, 3d print the models for orginal zords, then computor port them so we could make it like doctor who and have dinosaurs on a space ship, rather then dinosaur rangers having zords fit for a Zodiac season and in doing so making the same narrative mistakes from the og power rangers without giving a why, and forcing a 100% reboot if the story is to have a future, and this is not the end. After all, this needed to be the last season that would loop back to the past, so we could move to the future... with the ranger suits rights being lost in 3 months of this review being posted, they killed the golden goose not waiting for more funding, if they had 3 mill more, all of the rangers that mattered for such a story would have made a showing, even though he is important, in the end we only got Billy, heckle, and void knight, and a cameo we will miss if we are not paying attention to good old doggy but even his hardcore fans most likely missed it. Looping back to point 1, i was yelling at my computer screen as these bad calls were leaked and made official, doubly so after watching super sentai for the first time... telling my friends that being cheep is not the same as being original. This statment even after i watched it still stands, even though i can say, it was a noble effort, and it could have been worse. Problem is, it is far from the best it could have been for a original effort, and that is what's bothering me... I could do better on that budget... and if the producers would let me direct a season i would be honored to prove it. But i won't run less then 20 episodes. 12, is too short even with the runtime

but poiltess censporship is the killer here, Power rangers prides itself in being content made for kids.... however since the nickelodeon acquisition and there return to Saban and then acquisition later by Hasbro, they are working too hard at maintaining the child friendly sticker and it shows with the content quality being dropped. I will applaud the Netflix run for being the first one with a openly gay ranger, and this series for having the first ranger Gored on duty, sister and brother respectively. But they need to not be afraid of people fighting back before the rangers are even there, injury or concquences, all of which could reinforce the for kids label while allowing the older audences who watch it with there kids to enjoy it too with or without nostalga. There were jokes that could have poked fun at mega coprerations that were missed, there were injurys that were not severe enough, there was a lost opertunity to where Javi and Izzys dad could have been a sniper in the woods that the zentinals were scared of so they started lighting fires to draw him out, but the fire department was still active so it never worked. Better would be them arriving on a earth that is still fighting and lack of megazords isn't slowing the ground battle. Instead, we had, whatever is going on...... still worth not spoiling too much so others can enjoy the show... but what bothers me, is this could have been better. It was the Best disappointment, that i would watch again.

Great series but still has some flaws

Warning: Spoilers
I love Power Rangers Cosmic Fury and I think it is a little bit of an prefect end of era of the Power Rangers, but this series still has some flaws with it. Personally, I think RPM did an better job of it like an end of the era (Disney's last series they produced) standing out as the prefect one because it went all out of being more-matured, edgier, complex, and still a little bit comedic, and for once Power Rangers RPM is an series that isn't dumbed down for once and it is an perfectly balance series aimed for tweens and young adults in my opinion, while still being an children's series which the extinction of RPM is good. Now with Cosmic Fury, the series storytelling is good on how Javi was the first physically disabled in the team, which I'm actually impressed by this and something new for Power Rangers standards that the series has never done before, Amelia standing up as the Red Ranger, and Ollie being an evil Blue Ranger throughout until he redeems himself in the series finale, which that is still impressive for Power Rangers standards as I said before. Now with the flaws, the series still felt a bit dumbed down mostly with the dialogue of feeling cringe still as if it was still in the Neo-Saban era. But the series did alway with a lot of good things of it being with no moral of the week, no monster of the week, no forced comedic duo, and no fillers which is a great start in the right direction of the future of Power Rangers. Despite all of that, I think this is kinda of proof that mostly Once and Always and Cosmic Fury can actually try to tell an comepelling story regardless of the dialogue, but at leas that is a great start for the future of Power Rangers. Honestly, RPM and Cosmic Fury are great series to enjoy in my opinion.

Don't get wrong me, I love this series, but I do feel like this series still has some flaws mostly with dialogue, but everything else is good in Cosmic Fury.

I do hope that Power Rangers enovles as a whole, because RPM, Once and Always, and Cosmic Fury are trying for sure.

Thank you so much Hasbro, showrunners, writers, producers, directors, crews, and casts.

Power Rangers forever.

A Great anniversary Season to celebrate 30 years of this iconic franchise
johnnymarrero28 December 2023
Cosmic Fury was such a treat & a great season to celebrate 30 years of the PR franchise that gave us a first full season female Red Ranger in Ameila Jones, Billy returning as part of man cast, Zayto as the first ever Zenith Ranger with an new color Champagne, the return of Lord Zedd as the main villain, original fight scenes & many more cool surprises it was such a great final season that had great storytelling character growth and development and a great way to end an original run of the show and it was all thanks to Simon Bennett he is a great producer, I highly recommend this season so much.
