With a hiss of brakes, and a rush of steam, the next phase of SFW9’s launch is engaged. We have lots and lots to tell you, so settle down, grab your beverage of choice, put your feet up, and let’s go!
That’s right folks… Its time to start planning for SFW9, coming to you next March in Wales and we have a little bit of bad news but a massive whole bunch of good news to soften that blow. First things first though: there are only 18, yes 18 rooms left on site for the weekend so if you don’t have your tickets then you better get on that now. So first off here is a little comment from Sfw themselves with a little bad news…
First off, the bad news … As regular SFWers know, sometimes guests have to drop out, and since the last announcement, both Colin Baker...

Need to catch up? Check out the previous Legion recap here.
Were you hoping that things would start to make sense this week on Legion? Well… my condolences. But we did see some action!
David’s still stuck in that sedated dream from last week, and even Ptonomy can’t seem to pinpoint where his mind is, saying he’s “somewhere between memory and a dream.” Melanie wants to know how David ended up in Clockworks, so Syd, Ptonomy and Kerry go snoop around his old therapist Dr. Poole’s office. Ptonomy finds the doctor’s tape recorder all busted up,...

I never thought I'd see it, but by the end of this episode James Delaney was a hot mess!
A terrible family secret was revealed in Taboo Season 1 Episode 6, which set forth a series of events that shook Delaney to his core and, of course, caused carnage to follow.
Add to that the Honorable East India basically declaring war on Delaney, and we have a great setup to the final 2 episodes. Oh, and did I mention we had not one but Two shocking deaths? This one was Very dark, folks.
I like that Brace finally had enough, and told Delaney the real deal about his cray cray mum. Brace definitely has a yard of guts to stand up to the beast, or maybe he just doesn't care anymore.
Brace is usually used for comic relief, but he is excellent in this scene, finally telling Delaney the secret that he probably...

We’ve taken a pen to the UK Christmas TV and radio schedules and circled the shows we’re looking forward to. Add yours below!
Amid the cosy repeats, big movies and inescapable cranberry-stuffed cookery shows on TV this month are a few original gems. Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton’s Inside No. 9 festive special The Devil Of Christmas (Tuesday the 27th of December, 10pm, BBC Two) is top of our must-watch list. Hot on its heels is Yonderland’s family friendly Yonder Yuletide (Saturday the 24th of December, 6.30pm, Sky One). Another for families on Sky is the Christmas Day Jasper Fforde adaptation The Last Dragonslayer, while Channel 4 has the non-festive-but-essential-for-fans-of smart-sci-fi Humans series two finale (Sunday the 18th of December, 9pm).

Paul Thomas Anderson’s legion of fans will get their chance to see the filmmaker’s latest Inherent Vice – at least those in New York and L.A. after a long build-up of anticipation. Studio Warner Bros. is handling the director’s latest, set in a drug-laced L.A. in the 1970s. Barring some unforeseen cataclysm, the feature is easily going to be this week’s b.o. superstar and likely one of the year’s biggest per screen debuts. How it will fare against other fall b.o. knock-outs like Searchlight’s Birdman or TWC’s The Imitation Game remains to be seen. A slew of Specialty openers will coincide with the Inherent Vice juggernaut. A24 will open Oscar-nominated filmmaker Atom Egoyan’s The Captive day and date after an early fall bow in the director’s native Canada. Sundance Selects will expose Free The Nipple in New York...

Oh, Canada, our cinematic home and native land!
April 29, 2014 is National Canadian Film Day, a day for all Canadians to celebrate Canada through our nation's rich cinema history.
The day follows a month-long campaign to raise awareness of the achievements of Canadian filmmakers. It encourages Canadians across the country to rise above our national aversion to self-aggrandizement and actually watch a great Canadian film.
National Canadian Film Day is an initiative of Reel Canada, an organization that has put on over 800 festivals of Canadian films for over 200,000 high school students and new Canadians across the country since 2005.
To celebrate the day, Toronto's Royal Cinema movie theatre is putting on two separate showings on April 29:
"Highway 61" (7:00 p.m. Et)
Inspired by Bob Dylan's classic song and the fact that Highway 61 actually starts in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Bruce McDonald and Don McKellar combined forces to create this...

Miscasting in films has always been a problem. A producer hires an actor thinking that he or she is perfect for a movie role only to find the opposite is true. Other times a star is hired for his box office draw but ruins an otherwise good movie because he looks completely out of place.
There have been many humdinger miscastings. You only have to laugh at John Wayne’s Genghis Khan (with Mongol moustache and gun-belt) in The Conqueror (1956), giggle at Marlon Brando’s woeful upper class twang as Fletcher Christian in Mutiny on the Bounty (1962) and cringe at Dick Van Dyke’s misbegotten cockney accent in Mary Poppins (1964). But as hilarious as these miscastings are, producers at the time didn’t think the same way, until after the event. At least they add a bit of camp value to a mediocre or downright awful movie.
