A simple, refreshingm feel good movie.
ranjanamehta-569454 September 2023
A fun movie to watch with family. Its a sort of 'Coming of age' movie of 2 teenage brothers who bond over a crazy Friday night and it also beautifully shows the close bond and love of the brothers and their mother. And it teaches us that amidst all of our life's pressures its okay to have some fun and in the end it also teaches a lesson in learning to live responsibly. Very good acting by all. The direction is good and seamless and very natural; bringing out the best in the actors. A good watch. Juhi has acted well, and its a pleasure to see her on the small screen. Wish she gets more meatier role that will do credit to her acting callibre.

Better than most big banner movies
impankajsikka4 September 2023
Agreed with some of other comments that this showcased Indian upper class school kids life, but that's also a part of India isn't it?

This is far better than a lot of high budget movies that are all bling and fail to connect at any level with their audience.

Even though not much happened in terms of story, but the depiction of emotions and a touch of complexity added to each character was a treat to watch. Indian cinema needs many more such movies.

Could have used some great angles to add some more depth to the story but not sure why they were not fully explored even though there were hints of something more riveting all over.

Brothers
warrier_ash15 September 2023
Directed by Vatsal Neelakantan. Really good feel nice movie of brotherhood. All the cast are amazing. Babil Khan ( Irfan Khan's son) and Amrith Jayan will steal your hearts as the most amazing cunning loving brothers. It's about how Juhi Chawla goes out of town for work, and the two brothers go for a Friday night plan party. Babil khan being the new hero as he won the football match for the school, suddenly the party gets all interesting for the brothers. How they prank the other school kids, and all the brotherly moments, and how the real connection is what results in love, is nicely shown. Everyone acted really well.

Dude, go get your car.
chand-suhas4 September 2023
Friday Night Plan is a sweet teen comedy where two brothers plan to attend a Friday Night party organized by their classmates while breaking the one condition their mother put in before leaving for work i.e. Nobody gets to touch the car. What happens on this wild Night and how the two brothers bond with each other forms rest of the story.

Usually I am used to watching films based on such stories from the west than in Hindi and on that front, it does deliver, without going too crazy. The brothers characters has been well written with elder brother Sid (Babil Khan) bogged down by the thought of his responsibilities and younger brother Adi (Amrith Jayan) who is much more jovial, immature yet responsible like his brother. They are the ones who hold this film together till the end.

The humor is organic and the scenes don't go overboard to generate humor. Though it is all predictable with the jokes revolving around prom, a wild party involving booze and a kid desperate to look cool among the seniors, the screenplay strikes perfect balance with the humor and the emotional scenes. It's a feel good film in the end and the way the issue is resolved is in sync with the film's tone.

Sid and Adi will tug your heartstrings
ephsilonnot7 September 2023
I am extremely biased towards a good movie that narrates a story of a siblinghood and its small nuances. The story is uncomplicated and the narrative is pretty straight forward and essentially carries the essence of innocence both in dialogue, framing and overall flow of the story.

A huge reason why a lot of us (including me) watched this movie is because of Babil Khan, and the reminiscing memory and image of his wonderful extraordinaire father, Late Irfan Khan. And it's no question that despite of this immense pressure to keep up his father's name, Babil does extreme justice to his effortless acting legacy. Moreover the best part is, even if he was not the son of such great persona, the viewers would still love his performance.

Now coming to the movie it is a simple flowing story of an introvert overthinking older brother, Siddharth who has a stark contrasting younger sibling Aditya living with their single Mom (Played by ever gorgeous Juhi Chawla), and the chaotic story that takes place in a single day in their everyday life in absence of their mother. The chemistry of two brothers is a spitting image of everyday reality of many (if not all) brotherhood. It is warm, fuzzy, nostalgic and if you're away from your sibling, it will make you want to call them to reminisce your childhood days.

Special mention to the scenes where Amrith Jayan has given a spectacular performance of hyping his older brother up as a reflection of exactly how much he looks up to him.

A brilliant light hearted movie that can be rewatched more than once.

A Heartwarming Comedy About Brotherhood.
yashhraaj1 September 2023
Friday Night Plan (streaming on Netflix) is a coming-of-age comedy film about two teenage brothers, Siddharth (Babil Khan) and Aditya (Amrith Jayan), who team up to attend the hottest party of the year after their mother leaves for a work trip. The film follows the brothers as they navigate the ups and downs of their first big night out, all while learning more about themselves and each other.

The film's strongest asset is its cast. Babil Khan and Amrith Jayan are both excellent as the bickering brothers, and they have great chemistry together. Juhi Chawla is also good as the boys' mother, and she brings a lot of warmth to the role. The supporting cast is also solid, with Ninad Kamat, Medha Rana, and Aadhya Anand all giving admirable performances.

The film masterfully balances humor and heart, filled with numerous laugh-out-loud moments intertwined with touching emotional scenes. It offers a realistic portrayal of teenage life, capturing the awkwardness, excitement, and uncertainties of adolescence through believable and relatable characters. Central to the narrative is the celebration of brotherhood; the bond between Siddharth and Aditya serves as the film's emotional core, making it delightful to witness their relationship deepen as the story unfolds.

The film's direction is also effective. Vatsal Neelakantan does a good job of capturing the energy and excitement of the night out, while also providing some touching moments between the brothers. The film's screenplay is also well-written, with plenty of laughs and heartwarming moments.

If you are looking for a heartwarming and funny film about the power of brotherhood, then I highly recommend Friday Night Plan. ...

Prom night FNP
user-332373 September 2023
Felt watching american school movie. Couldnt relate anything fr India. Prom night .. beer party ... does this happen in Indian school.

Babil khan was gud and others too. Felt all school characters from some american prom night movies. Too much imported ideas nothing desi.

Can we have Indian school movies which are or could b more fun & chhapri at the same time. Nothing wrong showing our way urban style. R we devoid of showing happening Indian pure fun coming of the age movies. Cant we b cool our way showing our school days . We have seen these kind of american movies cum Archies style comic fun umpteen times. Lets b more creative adapting our own ways trying to show our school college days urbanised or whatever. Disappointed & felt wasted. Who r we trying to impress?

Must watch simple yet elegant. The chemistry between Babil and Amrith is commendable.
lokendraphulwari2 September 2023
A great family entertainer. Characters are very relatable and well presented. The movie is a poignant exploration of the complex bond between two siblings, each grappling with their unique psychological challenges. The film artfully delves into the depths of their individual struggles, showcasing the power of understanding and connection.

At its heart, "Friday night plan" revolves around the contrasting personalities of its main characters, Sid and Adi. Sid, portrayed brilliantly by Babil, is a young man plagued by crippling indecision, his life marked by hesitation and fear of making choices. In stark contrast, Adi, played by Amrith, exudes confidence and a devil-may-care attitude, often overshadowing his brother. The cast do justice to the roles.

Prom in India?
TheNonSmoker25 September 2023
This is just another student of the year Lite, absolutely horrible adoption from Aristocratic American schools (minus the guns), this is just another detached from the ground storyline you can find, even the native Americans under centuries of imperial European rule, holds more self values than these Hollywood leftover adopters. About an half hour into the movie, you will get to feel the cringe, it will make you feel like you are watching an Anglo film with NRI brown actors just for sake to maintain the on paper "diversity" checks.

Lastly, my recommendation will be to not watch movies like these, these movie makes are seemingly over stretching their imagination by putting nothing of value, but a copy-paste from their white masters and how they spend their livelihoods.

Sweet!
shansid-031649 September 2023
It's a simple film but boy is it sweet!

Story of a single mother with two teenage boys and their bonding. Younger brother takes the heart, Bhai ho toh Aisa!

Teenage boyhood love but dealt with such maturity, the poignancy of balancy both - Responsibility and flexibility.

Discovering your own way and self in the world of being cool. Knowing what may be considered the best may not be the best for you!

Following your gut and being straightforward.

Mumbai police takes the heart...

And Juhi Chawla's presence is nothing but an icing on the cake.

Worth the watch!

It'll leave you with a beautiful feeling by the end.

Uff ...Babil ,I kept on seeing his fathers reflection through him,What an Innocent smile his childhood values was reflecting through his eyes.

For a change Excel entertainment Farhan Akhtar chose a nice script without narrative .

I hope bollywood learn in a good way.

A movie which glorifies underage drinking, driving
tusharinvades9 September 2023
The movie shows a story of 2 school going brothers who attend a party at their schoolmates home. All of them are just drinking and having fun in the craziest way.

At some point we even get to see underage driving. And all of this like it's normal for people of that age to do.

It also shows that the children below or around 18 are quite sorted in there life about who they should date blah blah.

I think the director is some crazy person. I feel disappointed that Juhi Chawla did such movie. Only watch if you want to see how 2 underage brothers solve their differences. Skip if you have something better to watch.

Touch of innocent sibling tale
sushmithaariga2 September 2023
High school drama in bollywood has always been a bit exaggerated but not in this film. This new age drama is filled with a bit of realism and innocense. There's a touch of sibling love, family, friendship, and love with a hint of drama and comedy. Although they haven't delved much, it's just enough to keep it short and sweet. The charm of the characters and the hilarity of the situations they find themselves in make up for it. The film also has moments of heart and sincerity, reminding us that even in the midst of chaos, there can be genuine connections and personal growth. Although it's a one time watch, it leaves you with a smile as the credits roll.

Brotherhood

The movie is all about brotherhood and they get more close after a Friday night party

The content is very simple and short about 2 brothers where the younger one is very outward ,gutsy and full of life and while the elder one is serious ,sincere and shy types..both are in an international school where they have a football match followed by a party on Friday night..some small instances happens during the night which brings both the brothers close and to live life in a new way

All the young ones have played their roles decently without any extra glamour or attitude

It's is a very simple movie don't expect any big thing here people giving 10 stars here is totally absurd.

Clean and Comical
Thor_KD1 September 2023
Unlike other Netflix dramedies, this one is clean and has its heart in the right place. The focus is never swayed away from the two brothers and it's never about girls, romantic relationship or rivalry. Rather, it always comes back to the two brothers and their story. It's comical and entertaining with some emotional feel-good moments. It's not your usual overload of sex, drugs and violence. It's a fresh breeze of love, care and affection in a family. The lead actors have done a tremendous job. Babil is looking promising and delivers a beautiful performance after setting high expectations with his first gig, Qala. The screenplay and direction streaks the show. A 10 star for retaining the character of the story throughout.

Need more of such movies
purnimaarora3 September 2023
I loved the camaraderie shown between brothers in this movie. It's a reminder for those several brother duos who drift apart as they age. What wonderful acting by both of them! We need more such stories to inspire and restore love and trust in relationships. Also the fact that not all police officials are corrupt is an important lesson for youth and adults too.

Not a great plan.
Perspicuity126 September 2023
'Friday Night Plan' just feels like a lazy effort. It's easy to see why it got released on Netflix and not in theatres, what I don't understand is that why did they even make this movie in the first place? The creators of this film wanted to make something similar to Hollywood films like "Superbad", but were not creative enough to make it relatable for every student or at least the majority of them. Does 'Prom Night' exist in Indian schools?

The movie feels like a ride that remains in the first gear throughout its runtime. It seems as if the director wanted to copy a Hollywood movie but wasn't sure about the extent to which he should get inspired. One would expect the 'Friday Night Plan' to be one crazy night where the excitement level hits the roof, considering how eager the students were to be there, but the party just turned out to be lamer than the birthday parties of twelve year old children. Frankly speaking, that was just a boring party and I don't see how anyone would have a good time being there. It's safe to say that not a lot of effort went into writing the screenplay of this film, as it fails to intrigue you at any point of time and throughout the film I kept wondering as to how to do producers approve such projects?

Babil Khan made a fairly impressive debut in 'Qala' but he came across as slightly uncomfortable in this film. Babil has the advantage of looking almost exactly like his father, the late Irfaan Khan, but he needs to work on his dialogue delivery. On the other hand, Amrith Jayan, the actor who plays the role of Aditya, came across as a complete natural on screen. The confidence with which Amrith has portrayed his role, makes it difficult to believe that this was actually his debut film. Amrith's dialogue delivery, body language and expressions are just too good, and it goes without saying that he has outshined every other actor in this film. The two female leads of the film, Medha Rana and Aadhya Anand don't get to do any heavy lifting in the film, but showed a lot of promise in the limited screen time provided to them by the film.

'Friday Night Plan' is a mildly interesting feel good film that fades in comparison to even the YouTube videos we see on a daily basis to entertain ourselves.

zebaimran-060531 September 2023
A feel good movie. Wonderful amalgamation of all emotions. Simple and sweet. Very well directed and on spot. No extra drama, no overacting. Dint leave the plot even for a moment.

Babil fitted into the character so smoothly, so did Anand. Juhi is awesome as always. The whole idea is completely relatable to every school going teenager & their parents with their respective concerns of maturity and a sense of responsibility developing into the kids as they grow older.

It teaches a balance in all the realms of life which is of utmost importance during the adulthood. All kinds of emotions could be felt. A beautiful one time watch.

What a feel good movie
pmalikprashant2 September 2023
After Yeh Meri Family, if there's something that really touched my heart is this movie. Can watch it another 10 times...loved it, simply loved it.

The performances, the music, the characters...it's so refreshing and relatable. Though most sequences are predictable, but that's what a feel good movie is all about...when you know everything's gonna be fine at the end.

Was reading some critic reviews who have called this movie an average one, but you know that critics don't watch movies by heart...Go ahead and watch this movie with your family and everyone will love it. Will be looking forward to the songs being available on YT or Amazon music.

Babil does an amazing work! Weekend must watch.
mishrahome1 September 2023
Amazing work by all the actors, looking forward to seeing more of Babil's work. Sweet and delightful movie that keeps smiling throughout and especially in the end. Shows how siblings relationships have become in today's day and age. The dynamics of single parents and how kids see this is beautifully illustrated. Would love to watch it again! The movie doesn't get boring or draggy any where and in-fact makes you feel like you know these people from school or from somewhere. The support of the siblings and whilst they are being annoying and irritating is one true feeling we all share. The timing is perfect to have released around Rakhi. This movie i hope does well.

Must see

Warning: Spoilers
It's such a nicely crafted movie even though it all revolves around 1 day in the life of 2 brothers, you can hardly get bored watching this. Nice soundtracks, good story, and really nice cinematography makes this an absolute blast to watch. Actors did a really nice job of portraying their roles. The funniest part was the car, cause it got so bizzare with the older brother, Sid to get back his car. That reminds me of the side characters they put, what a total bliss this movie is and I definitely recommend the Netflix Subscription Holders to watch this in India. Otherwise it's a waste of money if you're buying the subscription without watching this in India, Netflix ain't all about foreign shows.

FNP: A Thought-Provoking Film on Life's Simplicities
rramans-120907 September 2023
This movie is truly a breath of fresh air! It's unlike anything I've seen in a long time. From the beginning until the final 30-35 minutes, I couldn't help but wonder when the inevitable accident or tragedy would occur. It's become almost a cinematic expectation that something dark and dramatic must happen to make a movie gripping or relevant to the world's troubles. However, this film defies that convention.

In an era where students are tragically taking their own lives and there's a rising tide of anger and frustration among teenagers, this movie courageously addresses the issue of how people struggle to navigate the education system, spending 20-25 years of their lives within it, and yet remain uncertain about their true life goals.

While crime and other sensational topics often dominate the movie landscape, this film shines a spotlight on one of the most fundamental questions that plagues 90% of the world's population: "What do we truly want from our lives?"

Typically, movies that depict parties, fun, or law enforcement often revolve around themes of rape, murder, drugs, or other crimes. This movie, however, stands out as a pure, simple, and enjoyable experience. It's remarkable that the writers, director, and producers chose to create a film devoid of horrors, focusing instead on essential life lessons that we should all remind ourselves of from time to time. For instance, owning up to our own mistakes-an important reminder to prevent us from making excuses or harboring regrets in the future.

Although I'm not sure where these types of parties are happening in India, this movie left me feeling envious. I yearn to experience the kind of fun and safe environment it portrays, and I hope to one day revel in such a day to the fullest!

In conclusion, "FNP" is a must-watch film that offers a welcome escape from the monotony of daily life. It encourages viewers to dedicate 90 minutes to reflect on their own lives, their childhood, and the simple yet profound lessons it imparts.

Responsibility & Emotion plus little commedy can be shown natuarlly with Elegance!!! LOVED it.
mkssmanish7 September 2023
Car/family or brother/sister/friend party/system/police, all are binded with emotion that too in elegance way. Acting is far better than many & many bollywood movie/actor.

This movie is real picture of almost all family in India.

Frankly, I could not find any role or scene which shd have been avoided. Genearlly our gossip abt bollywood movie is just opposite.

Film start with some school sports competition & that is centre of this movie, all story and charecter is rounding around.

I generally dont like song, though lyrics is not bad plus has some meaning for the story.

Overall movie is good, you may connect yourself with movie if you have younger/elder brother/sister .

LOL responsible cool bro !!!

A Must Watch!
rashidashussein-017184 September 2023
Very beautiful story of 2 brothers, their differences and unconditional love for each other. Their typical flights and "who knows better" attitude towards each other Babil Khan's acting is outstanding. His performance is extraordinary. The story of the film is very real and relatable.

The movie is very entertaining and enjoyable. It's got moments of humour, emotions, the pressures of being a teenager trying to find their own identity and belongings. The All the cast have played their roles very convincingly. Well written, very well presented and wonderful performance by all cast ( especially Babil Khan) Juhi Chawla is sweet as per usual The typical mother!

I definitely recommend this film to everyone.

Wholesome entertainment which will put a smile on your face
anirudhraghunath5 September 2023
Friday Night Plan🤝 Karwaan.

TLDR- Wholesome entertainment which will put a smile on your face

From the general feels of the movie to the music to just the feel good nature of the plot, Babil Khan shows that his dad's (Irfan Khan for context) acting blood flows through him. But it's not just that- Babil also adds his own flair of subtlety plus panache (oxymoronic but see the film to understand why)- which is very much in tone with the film. With strong performances all around- from Amrith Jayan playing the perfect younger brother to Babil's big brother, and the rest of the cast also giving just the right amount of impact for their roles- all done very gently and nothing becoming overbearing, this is an example of a film that shows that what matters most for a film is a solid plot, and characters that the audience can connect with. Solid plot, simple and beautiful dialogues and likeable performances do indeed make for a good show. And the music on top of this- the entire thing just feels like one big warm hug.
