The storyline follows a patient from the point of being trapped under a motor vehicle as a result of a road traffic accident through to the outcome of emergency surgery. It is a special episode to celebrate 75 years of the real NHS and even if you already appreciate the commitment and dedication of the staff who work in it, this episode, which includes touching thoughts and views from real doctors, nurses, ambulance and support staff at appropriate points, is truly thought provoking. The acting by all involved is superb and the episode felt almost like a fly on the wall filming of a real trauma event. If you watch Casualty week in week out you should love it and even if you don't watch the programme at all, this episode is worth watching and probably works as a one off watch.

Warning: Spoilers
This episode shows how all the different parts of the emergency services (especially the NHS) work together to deliver patient care. Spoiler: a motorcyclist is involved in and RTA with a car and ends up under a van. He has a significant injury to one leg.
A truly educational episode.
The interviews appear to have been with real people, rather than actors. The "acting" parts thoughtfully portrayed interactions between professionals and public; admittedly some we're stereotypes of "difficult" people, but I thought they added to the complexity of the "day in the life" episode.
Very well done to all involved.
