If you liked the first movie, watch this one too.
Tosun_pasa7 December 2023
I saw the first movie once in the cinema. I neither loved nor was saddened. I feel exactly the same about this movie. I watched it at the cinema last night. We went to the cinema to relieve the tiredness of the day and laugh a little. The movie did its job. We laughed a little. But it's not a memorable movie. Those who don't watch lose nothing. Feyyaz Yigit's influence is evident in the script. It is very nice to discuss extraordinary events within the daily routine. Calculating the costs of kidnapping and discussing income and expenses are like daily coffee chats. I'm not against slang words in cinema, in fact I even like it when it's appropriate. But there are some cheap uses in this movie.

What a big dilemma -Serbest-
olcare30 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Today, I went to the sequel of Mortal World, whose first film I really liked, and I had serious reservations because, as someone who believes the first film is extremely underrated, I was concerned that this sequel might set the series back. Contrary to expectations, the first film was in a good position, featuring exceptionally well-executed action sequences and, unlike the mediocrity in Turkish cinema, successfully incorporating the proper use of profanity and situational comedy, similar to series like "Gibi."

The second film, compared to the first, leans a bit more towards situational comedy while slightly reducing the action, but it was definitely worth it. Once again, the action scenes are absurdly enjoyable and of high quality, eliciting genuine laughter. Especially the scene where they confront the mafia with Rasputin's music is truly magnificent. Congrats to Ali Atay and the team for acing this test once again.

This film indeed contains a lot of profanity, and some people may genuinely dislike it. I watched it with a friend who doesn't like profanity, but she wasn't bothered at all because she said profanity, when used in the right context, is extremely funny, especially for Turkey. I quote this expression verbatim and agree with it.

Even if the script revolves around the mafia and feels a bit repetitive, the careful selection of new characters enhances the potential for the continuation of the film. I sincerely wish for comedy-action films of at least this quality to be maintained as a minimum standard for the development of this industry. I hope more films with scenes like the non-awkward rocket launcher, helicopter chase, bus pursuit, mall fight, and hospital chase are produced and analyzed critically.

Finally, I want to mention Feyyaz Yigit. Adding something new to his superb performance in the series "Gibi" and his beyond funny acting in the first Mortal World film, he delivered another memorable performance. Everyone else was more than good. After all, making the actors harmonious with the quality of a comedy film should be the main goal, even though many of our films still struggle with this. Watch it, make others watch it.

It's good, but
kguler29 December 2023
As a sequel to the first movie, it is very appropriate and good. It uses more slang than the first movie. I think Ali Atay and the cast fully met our expectations. The movie went by so fast that I didn't understand how it ended. There was no exaggerated event above the standard and the movie did not go off the classic subject. The character of Zafer was behind the first movie, this was due to the minute he took, Senol closed this difference well and showed once again that he is a good actor. I love this kind of comedies, I suggest that if there will be a 3rd movie, it should come in 2 years at the latest.

I think the first movie is better. But that's not bad either. The most striking and disturbing thing was that the popular joke pattern in the first movie was persistently continued in this movie. I think this is a mistake. This pattern, which looked good in the first movie, I think doesn't appear as much in the second movie. But still I can't say it's bad. There is no problem with entertainment and comedy. But unfortunately, the situation of being overshadowed by the first movie continued. You won't regret watching it. There is nothing missing from the harmony of the team. But as I said, you may miss the atmosphere of the first movie. And I think the star of the movie is Giray Altinok. I loved his acting.

Not exactly a good sequel
waigo71 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This movie is the third collabaration of Ali Atay as the director, Feyyaz Yigit and Aziz Kedi as main writers with Atay contributing.

So the formula is quite simple. Aimless conversations, discussions and quarrel in absurd situations throughout the series of events in the movie. This approach was quite refreshing the first time in the first movie and it was backed up by energetic performance of the whole cast. I think that was the main reason for the success of the first film.

Other works by Yigit and Kedi preferred a more laid back tempo with slow-burning comedy. Cinayet Süsü was not exactly bad and Gibi has its own fandom. I did not exactly watch Gibi but i see scenes from it everywhere and i think its success comes from the freedom to introduce a variety of new absurd situations which is supported by the concept of the show. Being unable to introduce new elements to an already established setting (from a prequel) and failing to expand or grow upon this setting were the main reasons why Ölümlü Dünya 2 did not exactly work. The jokes intended as running gags felt rather like repetition and the action was trimmed down to 1 good (bodyguard chasing Serbes and ilhami chasing the bodyguard) and 1 great (airport) sequence. Altinok's addition to the crew was exciting but did not deliver well (that man is much funnier in my opinion).

So... I was a little disappointed that the crew did not give much thought to the sequel, maybe it is because of the ongoing projects, i dunno.

Sharper, Wittier, Wilder: 'Ölümlü Dünya 3' Elevates Turkish Comedy to New Heights
sinefili4 May 2024
Warning: Spoilers
''Ölümlü Dünya 2" continues the uproarious adventures of the Mermer family with a freshness that reinvigorates the Turkish comedy genre. Building on the success of its predecessors, this installment not only captures the dark humor and quirky charm but elevates it with an even sharper wit and a more polished narrative.

The film shines with its exceptional cinematography, capturing the chaotic elegance of the Mermer family's dual life with vibrant visuals and meticulous mise-en-scène. Each frame is packed with detail, enriching the storytelling and enhancing the comedic effect. The direction by Ali Atay is commendable; he deftly balances fast-paced action sequences with heartfelt family moments, demonstrating a mature grasp of cinematic pacing and character development.

"Ölümlü Dünya 2" is a testament to the evolution of Turkish cinema, showcasing how well-crafted comedy can resonate with broader themes of loyalty, tradition, and the absurdity of everyday life. As the narrative unfolds, the film's ability to maintain suspense while delivering punchlines is a rare feat, ensuring that viewers are constantly engaged and entertained.

The ensemble cast returns with renewed energy, delivering performances that feel both familiar and fresh. The chemistry among the cast is palpable, making the absurdity of their predicaments all the more hilarious and their bonds more touching.

If a third film were to emerge, it would not only be welcomed for its entertainment value but also celebrated for its artistic merits. Fans of the series and newcomers alike would find much to enjoy in "Ölümlü Dünya 2"-a film that would promise laughter, surprises, and a heartfelt look at the eccentricities that define us. Here's to hoping the Mermer family returns for another round of mayhem and mirth.

No comedy movie can hit the right buttons for a person as much as those from their own culture
averagedeveloper12 May 2024
It won't embarrass someone who loves the first movie and will definitely keep them engaged. The movie is an absurd comedy, so there isn't much analysis to be done. You can simply say whether it makes you laugh or not.

In the age of the internet, I believe I've consumed a sufficient amount of comedy content. From world-famous movies, stand-up comedians or video content, some make me smile here and there, while others miss me completely. Yet, this one particular film, I found myself laughing out loud, with my breath taken away by laughter in a couple of instances. But on the other hand, I don't expect the same impact on someone who isn't Turkish, because even though the jokes may be witty and well-executed, they originate from deep within Turkish culture. I don't anticipate them resonating fully with someone who hasn't grown up immersed in and living with these cultural nuances.

Fail to recapture the magic of the original."
kaankocak-341149 May 2024
"Despite the anticipation surrounding 'Ölümlü Dünya 2,' the sequel fails to capture the charm and wit of its predecessor. While attempting to expand on the original's universe, the storyline feels forced and lacks the clever humor that made the first film enjoyable. The characters, once vibrant and engaging, seem flat and uninspired, failing to evoke any emotional investment from the audience. Moreover, the pacing feels uneven, with moments of dullness punctuating an otherwise chaotic narrative. Overall, 'Ölümlü Dünya 2' falls short of its potential, delivering a lackluster sequel that fails to recapture the magic of the original."

Too many slang
emregurcay-685622 December 2023
I have watched first movie too. It was much more funny than second one. I went with my family and I really disappointed because every scene is full of slang words and if you think its funny, its not. I was expecting much more smart jokes but they try to make us smile with slangs.

I really love the characters but its not worth to watch this in cinema because last 30-40 minutes was so boring. I was sleepy at the end of film. If I was at home Probably I stop watchin it.

If you plan to go with your family never do that. Slangs disturbed my family while watching and this made me angry. Because we went there to watch a funny film but heard some slangs we have ever hear before.

A Lackluster Attempt at Comedy
kivancakdeniz17 December 2023
Movie doesn't quite measure up to the laughs we got from its predecessor. The first film wasn't a comedy masterpiece, but it definitely had a better grip on humor. Now, the sequel tries to mirror the changes in Turkish society, but it ends up relying too much on cheap laughs, loads of swearing, and dragging scenes longer than they should be. The result? A comedy that's way too basic.

Sure, the filming, the acting - all that's done quite well. It's just that the story itself lacks any real brainpower. It's like they took Gürgün Bingel and Feyyaz Yigit's humor, tossed it into the film script, and hoped for the best. Unfortunately, the effort to turn their comedic genius into a situational comedy for the big screen just doesn't hit the mark.

wretched
vbhpwczhk8 May 2024
Don't let your 2 hours be wasted. Don't watch! The movie has no plot. It has no flow.. there is heavy swearing.. you cannot watch it with your spouse or friends.. it is a movie that destroys social morality. I think the friends who gave high scores are the ones who watched the short YouTube video. Comedy shouldn't be about swearing. More effort should be given to comedy. People should not be alienated from comedy. Turkish comedy films are not built on these foundations. Please ignore. You can be sure that our other Turkish comedy movies are funnier and more sincere. It's a disgraceful movie. It's a shameful movie.
