Great finale

Warning: Spoilers
This finale had everything, 2 cases, a failed wedding, foster parenting and a whole lot of fun.

The main focus of this episode was of course the wedding but kelby also had a great story finally receiving the "peck" he'd always wanted and his chase scene was just brilliant with a brilliant score as well.

I do think the cancellation of the wedding felt rushed but this did add to the tension which I think was the intended effect.

The actors mostly gave brilliant performances with Kris Marshall yet again knocking it out the ball park.

Despite all this my favourite part had to be the play off of the 60s music on the beach that was just funny.

Overall great episode 9/10.

I can't quite make my mind up

What is Beyond Paradise? I thought it was supposed to me a crime show but it seems to be a soap opera with comedy thrown in. I'm getting a bit bored with Martha and the foster parent story line. Not only does the lead character have personal problems but we've dragged in his mother in law. This must be the the only crime show where the detective's sidekick being relegated to third billing.

I also can't get my head around the ooo arrh phoney accents. Why is the young policeman sound as though he is doing an impression of Benny from Crossroads?

On the plus side Kriss Marshall is always good and at least we've got away from DIP's silly idea of getting all thr suspects together and explaining the solution.

Great episode - lots of mystery and other plots all well balanced

There's plenty packed in this Season Two finale - not least a real age spread of characters! Definitely best to watch the series in order as there are several references to previous episodes and of course Selwyn links us to Death In Paradise. As does having weekly bereavement which is not always part of the crime story - I like that they do this because it shows the side of grief that isn't usually included in DiP. I love that these BP puzzles often aren't murder - really refreshing as so many such dramas already. So glad to hear the announcement of 2024 Christmas Special and Season Three too. Just time to rewatch Humphrey's DiP before then to fill the void!

Good grief selfish Martha!!!!!!!

Warning: Spoilers
I have tried to like this show as I loved Death In Paradise. I just don't There isn't enough murders for one. It's a bit too cheesy.

But worse of all.

Martha is a selfish spoiled brat. She just can't be kind too her mom. She took her mom's home and then gets mad bc of the wedding heom was throwing for free, being overboard. I am sorry, but they have lived together and there is nothing new or exciting that marriage is going to change except to please the Lord with whom I am sure they don't worship. So... So what if the wedding isn't how she wanted it. Her mom was doing her best to help out. And then to now not get married at all. Good grief. They still could have gotten married at the reception. I mean ughhhhhhh. Martha is never really loving to her mom at all, she isn't really loving towards Humphrey. She is just so so selfish.

Maybe if she was gone I may like the show more. Idk. Change Martha or get rid.

Episode 6

Well you just knew PC Kelby Hartford would get his kiss at the end, it's called foreshadowing.

Either that or Peter Barlow from Coronation Street would turn out to be one of the crooks.

There are two cases for Shipton Abbott police to investigate.

The theft of a valuable statue from a museum. A door was forced open but the alarm did not go off.

Two cybercriminals messed around with the internet. Forced their way into the home of an old lady and got access to her computer to clean her bank account.

The old lady turned out to be CS Charlie Woods grandmother.

DI Humphrey Goodman eventually finds time to investigate when he is not sorting out his wedding or fostering arrangements.

I thought the finale for the second series was low key. The highlight was the drone shot at the end.

Beyond Poor
pepperway27 April 2024
This show has a brilliant pedigree and a great cast. But it's poor, so poor, badly written and shallow that it made me cringe whilst watching it. The final episode of series three was just an embarrassment for all concerned. The device at the end when the solution is revealed is clever, except that the actual crime is secondary to what passes for a story. Dixon of Dock Green did it better and that's saying something!

If the BBC is to commission a further series, or maybe has already done so, I suggest it goes out as a lunchtime 'treat'. It certainly does not deserve the peak viewing slot of Friday evenings, which is what the current series has enjoyed.
