Great Holiday Film!

I've been a fan of Daniel Simon since Lonely Boys and a number of short pieces I was fortunate to find online, so I was really excited when Another Year Together debuted. I can't recommend it highly enough. An excellent script, top class performances, and brilliant filmmaking across the board. This is a film you should definitely add to your annual holiday roster.

Alexandra Turshin and Roger Hendricks Simon were excellent and Pedro Padilla's cinematography was exceptional. Can't say enough about how Simon, Patrick Davin, and Robert Gregory were able to bring everything together so well on what must have been a limited budget.

The Holiday Rom Com I Didn't Know I Needed

Another Year Together is more than love, actually. It's a bittersweet ode to relationships in all their messy glory--as lovers, family, friends, husband and wife, therapist and client. We stay at the table despite our collective neuroses, mouthguards, crises in masculinity, foot fetishes. Daniel Hendricks Simon's Manhattan is its own lonely character--only truly brought to life when it is connected to one of its inhabitants. "Is it love or co-dependency?" David asks his friend Jonathan. It may be a little bit of both when you leave a piece of your own comfortable shell behind to take shelter inside someone else's. We love, we lie, we cheat, we shut down, we break apart and, sometimes, we put each other back together. And maybe that's what love is all about. Simon's awkward, poignant, and beautifully flawed characters are part of a story in which we can all find ourselves together.

A romantic holiday classic!!

Thoroughly enjoyed and recommend "Another Year Together." A must see for the season. Every "season" and is on display in this wacky, funny and touching journey through one family's holiday. Each character brings a part of the entire experience into play that collectively the holidays represent. Romance is in the air and each character adds their romantic flair to the table. Romance and the holidays combine to bring "life as we live it" to the screen in a way that left me saying "yep" donning a Cheshire cat smile and enjoying laughter. As the romance and holiday progressed, I was left with a hopeful and satisfied holiday evening for the two hours. Love and the holidays play out for a feel-good ending. It's a holiday classic for our times for sure. Thank you!

Great holiday movie!

Great holiday movie with some good laughs and cries. This very entertaining film takes you through different relationships of all ages.

Alongside his long time, acting, father, Roger Hendricks Simon, Daniel Hendricks Simon wrote, directed and acted as the main character in this. You'll definitely want to get to know his work!

If you want to see a well written and directed film with a wonderful cast, this is the one.

After winning multiple awards and film festivals you can now watch through different platforms. If you are looking for a great film to watch this winter I would highly recommend Another Year Together!

It's been said many times in this post-Covid era, with unconvincing enthusiasm, "New Yawk is back, baybee!!" Hmph. I don't know if that's true or not, but if you have just a couple hours this Christmas (and what better time for it?), get proactive and take yourself and a loved-one back to a New York that was full of idealism and all those insane romantic complications that come with a city that never sleeps-or at least, has sleep apnea. Your time capsule for such a return is THIS movie. Another idealized NYC? Another "silly love song"? Yes! For all the right reasons, because, there never was ONE New York. This is how New York itself dreams as it never sleeps. Do yourself a favor and watch it NOW, while the spell of holidays is upon you, when New Yorkers and all its visitors feel that anything is possible. Even life.

Great NYC holiday film!

This is a charming film about the ups and downs of spending the holidays in New York City with friends, and loved ones. This film had plenty of moments that made me genuinely laugh as well as a couple of conversations that were truly insightful which made me think of my own life challenges. There are numerous ensemble characters in the film, all of which are uniquely crafted and serve the story better. The subplot of the protagonist's mother and father really cracked me up. I would recommend this film to anyone, but I would say that it makes it all the more charming to watch between Thanksgiving and Christmas!

Heartwarming second feature from a real talent

Filmmaker Dan Simon touches hearts with his award winning feature, Another Year Together. With an ensemble cast including Alexandra Turshen, the film follows three New York City couples from different generations within the same family. Funny, poignant and inspiring, this holiday movie is a true gem.

What stood out most was the cinematography, directing and chemistry between the actors. It's a film that is essentially a love letter to an innocent time when New Yorkers felt a little less cynical about life and the chaos that surrounds them. The holidays always inspire sentimental feelings to emerge and this feature asks you to remember to hold the ones you love just a little bit closer.

This film is so well done ... the writing, acting, cinematography, and overall production. It's a story of love, loss, regret, and second chances that, even though the characters are often larger than life, feels universally familiar. It's told methodically and beautifully, and the characters win you over slowly as it unfolds. The foot fetish porn conversation at Thanksgiving dinner alone is worth the price of admission.

I haven't seen Patrick Davin's or Daniel Hendricks Simon's previous work but look forward to. Simon is fantastic as Jonathan, as is Alexandra Turshen as Sophie. The supporting cast is equally strong and lovable.

Great film

After having been on the Voting committee for the awards and had to watch many movies over the past few months. This one was a very well coming suprise and kept me engaged! Great acting and script. Truly enjoyed this Woody Allen-ish take on the modern Manhattanites! Really felt for all the characters as they all had their own truths and validities. That's why it was so great to watch because every character had valid reasons for their way of behaving and acting the way they did in their sometimes absurdly way of living yet very NYC ! Chapeau to the a screenwriter, cinematography, actors and anyone else I've missed in this beautiful ensemble.

It's worth a watch, cast was great

Although it's not exactly an upbeat film, I think it's an accurate capture of where a lot of us are day to day. Things are hard, life can be a mundane grind, and it's sometimes difficult to assess where we are in our lives? The path we're on, who we're on it with? Are we just going through motions?

The acting was great and overall I really enjoyed the film. I liked the interweaving storylines and the ensemble as a whole.

My only issue was the really lazy fatphobic catfishing. There were a lot of other ways that story line could have unfolded and leaning on "the fat guy" is just really unimaginative and cheap. Left a bad taste.

Writer/Director Daniel Hendricks Simon has hit it out of the park with his relationship-driven 'Another Year Together', beautifully shot mostly on Manhattan's Upper East Side (with visual nods to the films of Woody Allen). Its idiosyncratic characters, played by some of the BEST New York City actors (including Richard Masur, Roger Simon, Mike Roche and Marilyn Sokol) are as far away from cookie-cutter as you can get. Their collisions are not only vastly entertaining, but also provide a fascinating psychological study on the highs and lows of contemporary urban life, examining such themes as urban loneliness, success/failure, aging, loyalty, death, art, escapism, reconciliation, and tradition.

Better Than A Hallmark Movie

Another Year Together is well written, acted, and directed. It is a feel good romantic comedy about friendships, romance, family, and communication between women and men. It is very New York City and very Woody Allen. Not only is Daniel Hendricks Simon a great filmmaker, but also a great actor. This is a film that brings comfort and features relationships we can all relate to. This Indie film is inspiring and features a wide array of superb talent. I can't wait to see what Daniel Hendricks Simon does next. There is a lot of quirkiness to to this film and a lot of soul. Don't miss out on this film.
