Almost a good kind of bad

"De Tattas" wasn't a good movie to begin with, so obviously the sequal is somewhat of a poorly written and poorly acted mess. Leonie ter Braak was the only person giving a decent performance in the first movie and even she doesn't seem to be trying anymore. "De Tattas 2" is poorly written and acted across the board. The main story takes half of the runtime to get going and is boring. The B-plots are uninteresting. It's a mess.

Still, I'd rate this higher than the first movie. The movie is so absurd and bad at times that it actually got some good chuckles out of us. I'm convinced that if this series leans into the "Fast and Furious" style of making sequals and just jumps the shark, it may actually become good.

A simple sequel, for which little effort seems to have been made or taken.

De Tatta's 2 is the sequel to the first Tatta's film from last year. This sequel is again directed by Jamel Aattache, who also directed the first part.

After their inauguration into the new neighborhood, the Van Kampen family, like all other residents of the neighborhood, is told that the neighborhood is threatened with demolition. The neighborhood is said to be too outdated and unsafe, which is why the local municipality wants to transform it into a more modern and safer location.

These plans only go somewhat against the culture and habits that the local residents themselves have created in their neighborhood. The van Kampen family tries to prevent this together with the other residents, but when grandfather Richard (John Buijsman) has to live with the family, the balance in the battle to preserve the neighborhood becomes somewhat lost.

Due to their lack of writing experience, the novice writers of the first part maintained a somewhat standard comedy in which the jokes remained somewhat predictable or repetitive. After a year they have developed a little more, but unfortunately not enough to really make something special from this sequel. They have adjusted the situation the characters are in now a bit. The van Kampen family must now work together with the original local residents to preserve the neighborhood as they want it to be.

Despite this adjustment, the film is somewhat repetitive, such as the comedy aspects. Unfortunately, the comedy remains more on a familiar side and is simply reminiscent of the first part.

In this sequel, the cast members have been given the opportunity to further develop their characters from the first part. Unfortunately, most people get little or no opportunity for this due to the poorer scenario. Instead of finishing the script for this sequel within a year, the writers could have looked at the story and fleshed it out a bit more. This makes it look like it's just done with the help of an A. I. system such as ChatGPT was devised. This sequel gives few opportunities to evolve the characters since the first part. If they make a sequel to this film series, hopefully the writers will have a better developed story with more unique ideas and jokes. Then instead of this following year it was also frayed and turned into a third part.

By far the worst movie i have ever seen. You can see that they didn't put any effort in the script, acting, visuals, etc etc.. it's so bad that i left the cinema.

The first movie was not bad, like a 5,5, mainly due the fact that it was an original movie and we don't have a lot of these in the Netherlands. But the unexpected succes of the first movie made them see dollar signs in their eyes (which is ok, but then you have to come with a decent follow up).

A big thing that bothered me was the fact that they use instagram influencers in the movie as actors. It's so obvious that they never acted before.

Conclusion: 1 star.
