If you ever wondered what it would look like to see yourself grow old enough to become the bad guy, well, now you know, eh John Oliver.
"Lovely" piece taking easy cheap potshots at a guy who had admittedly spent a long time on the wrong side or history being an ar$e but, and this is important and crucial, is now and has been for the last 2-3 years one of the leading voices for critical thinking. He is by no means perfect but he has noted the utter absurdity of a govt patting itself on the back for being for journalists and freedom of the press while simultaneously seeking to end the life and freedom of one journalist and endorsing the murder and dismemberment of another, and the exile of a third..... and he's also very vocal against the industrial military complex's push for war, cos when your business is war, then war is good for business. Ie he's changed, he's learned, and he's moved forward, something that sadly can not be said for the team at Last Week Tonight With John Oliver, but don't let that stop you making a hit piece on the guy when he got removed from his high profile position for airing discussion on such things. The LWTWJO team just couldn't bring themselves to acknowledge the real world, as they stick to their now 'proven wrong on many levels' partisan agenda as noted by nakrugt. These guys are the fonz in happy days, they're wrong, it's obvious they're wrong, but they can't and won't say "we're wrrrrr, We're wrrooo... We're... wrrroonn,.....".
But also as nakrugt notes the biggest crime John and his team make is being unfunny. I remember laughing a lot at the presentation of facts and news and the insight the show used to give, at least I think I remember that, it was such a long time ago. Now all I do is wince at the wrong footed dodgy items veering well into propaganda territory and wondering how the thinking left became the bad guys.
