Enough with the annoying characters, and enough with the soap operas. This show is now a far cry from its entertaining first three seasons, and they seem to have dedicated themselves to figuring out how many irritating characters they can pack into a season.
First we have the horribly irritating woman they spun off into the FBI series. We had the irritating "look alike" Dim, who they thankfully killed off. The new "psychic" rookie partner irritates the hell out of me ... thankfully she was somehow left out of this episode, and "Randy" was a mistake from the beginning. Too bad they didn't kill off that character in this episode.
There was barely a real plot here, although they tried to include two. I couldn't keep track of the Randy plot since I tried my best to ignore his scenes, and the plot with the gangster's daughter was utterly pedestrian.
Despite us being Fillion fans in everything he's done, I am VERY close to pulling the plug on this series, which has become a directionless mess. A few weeks ago we dumped the new Magnum PI for similar reasons ... little concentration on a central plot in each episode, and multiple soap operas taking up space without providing any entertainment value. It's like these series are now being written by goofy teenagers instead of serious professional writers who know how to translate a compelling story into a script.
