Huge Rutledge Wood Fan but...
ta-606442 June 2023
I had high hopes for the show and maybe it will come around. The first episode was a bit weak, especially when the one contestant really didn't seem to have much say in what her car looked like since the body kit was already there.

And one of the 'experts' commented that an issue with the wheelie car could be that it could twist under all the torque. The problem is rear wheel drive cars can twist the body/frame under massive torque because the engine is in the front and the wheels in the back so the driveshaft is twisting against the body/frame. His build had the engine right next to the differential, not much distance to twist.

Not so hot wheels

Warning: Spoilers
Had high hopes but this show really doesn't make sense . The Host brings out a car from the contestants past that has sentimental memories from their past . After the story of the memory they proceed to destroy the car by making it into a car using elements from iconic hot wheels only to never drive it or win it , nobody knows what actually happens to the cars they make . The winner of the head to head gets 25k and a chance to compete in the final to win .... Wait for it .... a hot wheel of the car they made . Are you kidding me ? They win a hot-wheel ! How about a working version of the car they spent a week fabricating plus a hot-wheel version of it . I mean the first show they destroyed a beautiful 68 Charger that nobody will ever own.

My View on HW:UC
nicholasmurley28 August 2023
After watching the first season, I was impressed with the creativity displayed on the show, but I do think that for next season it could use some improvements. I felt that just selecting 3 finalists for the finale wasn't enough hype for the final challenge on the show. Is there not enough room for a 4th garage in the finale? Another matter relating to this is that for next season I suggest that after 8 contestants have won their matches, there be a semifinals then 4 contestants to compete in the finale. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a celebrity edition of the show in the future, but it's very unlikely. Regarding this first season, I feel that in just a couple of episodes of the show the judges should've paid more attention to which vehicles had Hot Wheels-esque features, and it's those vehicles that should've been the winners. Also, in terms of the winners for the matches, I saw silhouettes in each of the 8 squares, then after a match ended the picture of the winner who matched that silhouette appeared, so I'm thinking that the producers predicted who would win each match on the show. I think that this should all be taken into consideration should HW:UC get any future seasons or special editions.

Disapointing
wickedwookie72 July 2023
This could have been a cool show but I have no idea what they were thinking. They have a car that has an emotional connection to the contestants and proceed to have them completely change it. Why?

As usual with current TV, this is all about optics and nothing else.

Does it go into any kind of detail about the actual work done on the cars? No.

If a problem in the build comes up , they all stand around and everyone on the show has to worry about it. Why?

Having Terry Crews and Hert doesn't make up for the complete lack of substance in this show. If you are into cars in any way, this probably will be too much like cotton candy when you are in the mod for a steak. Honestly, just watch any of the Hoonigan videos with Hert and you'll be much more satisfied.

Worst show ever!!!
fx-8126522 July 2023
I played with Hot Wheels back in the 60's as a kid, I still remember the excitement of getting a new car or setting up the track. Fast forward 50+ years and now there is a TV show, and a lousy one at that. From the get go, you can tell that the emotions, the reactions and just about everything else is "staged". Everything is "played up" and over exaggerated. I'm guessing it's for the sake of ratings, but it is almost comical watching and listening to the responses and reactions. This is not a reality show, even the short commercials and previews shown are way over the top. But at the end of the day, would I buy ANY of these so called "Hot Wheels"? HELL NO!!! I'd actually be surprised if NBC let them finish out the season.

Really?

My God what a waste of time and money. If you like shiny objects and pretty colors, this is the show for you.

The idiots who greenlighted this visual and auditory assault on the senses should just stick to their coloring books and stop making TV.

Why not make a Matchbox Cars show. It would be just as dull and boring but it would cost less, just like the Matchbox Cars do.

How about a show about finger painting. You could get some "talent" from the internet that no one knows who they are. A bunch of idiots who are "influencers" and they can host and judge.

Other than that.... It's just a steamer from Cleveland.

Haha

Hahahahaha. Are you kidding Me??? What a waste of airtime. This show couldn't be any worse if it tried. If it makes past one season I'd be shocked.

The cars are horrible, the actors are horrible. It's 2023 and you can't come up with anything better than this nonsense?

Id like to know who came up with this monstrosity of a show. Please don't waste your time. Change the channel and find something more productive and or entertaining to watch.

I can't believe I'm evening reviewing it but I hope To save someone an hour of their day. Watcher beware.

Best of luck getting lit for season two. Haha.

Hot Wheels Ultimate Fail
rutzbob15 July 2023
Underwhelming and kind of sick how they destroyed a classic Dodge Charger on the first show like the Dukes of Hazzard wrecking crew, in fact they seem to absolutely ruin every car on the show. It's like they combined Kindergarten, cars and Top Chef. Terrible. Are any of these cars even driveable on a public road after the butchery? Like most of us car guys I wasn't sure what to expect and thought I had set the bar pretty low but I didn't know it had to be lower than the Marianis Trench. Too bad the Sag Writers strike didn't happen until this week, would have given the network time to come to its senses. NBC needs to put this dog out of its misery.

I'm hooked!

Warning: Spoilers
I've been surprised this show even exists. And I don't say that in a negative way. It just seems like a wild show premise to get green-lit: take classic Hot Wheels that you know and love and use them as inspiration to make a real-life version of something no one has seen before.

Granted, it is cheesy, and the actors are a little over the top for my taste. I mean, it's based around a kids toy, what do you expect? But regardless, every episode has kept me entertained, and I liked that every episode revolved around a car that meant something to the "super fan" in their past. Some of their creations have been awesome, I love the creativity and everyone seems to put their own unique personality into their builds. This would be my dream to be on this and do what they're doing, and I'm sure I'm not alone.

I've obviously been living under a rock because I've never heard of Rutledge Wood or the other judges before but I really love how he hosts. He's fun and upbeat while also not afraid to let emotions flow if that's what's called for in the moment. The three have good chemistry together and now that I'm towards the end, they've gotten better at hosting every episode. The guest judges they have every now and then are fun too, loved Joel McHale especially.

As others have said, would love to see these cars actually get driven, and I would also love to see what the heck happens to these things afterwards. Do they get sold? Do they just sit there in some garage? I want to know!

This show is not for everyone as I was surprised by all the hate on here, but if you're looking for something entertaining that will make the 7 year old in you light up again, this is something to check out. Love that it's family friendly and something you don't have to think hard to enjoy.

Bring on a season 2!

Could be much better
DeepFriedJello14 June 2023
I was really looking forward to this, and the previews gave such high expectations. I've watched the first two episodes hoping for some great, amazing cars, but am still waiting. I really wish they could've, would've gotten some true expert car fabricators and could spend a couple weeks in a true fabrication shop, rather than bolting on pre-made pieces and basically unfinished cars. And my biggest gripe is that they never attempt to start the cars and try to drive them. I can guarantee that none of these vehicles could drive a city block without falling into a pile of parts. One vehicle was meant to do a wheelie, but instead of taking out and actually doing one, they jack it up with a hydraulic wheelie machine. I'm still planning to watch if possible to see what poor constructions they put together.

Could have been amazing
aussielife16 August 2023
I was so excited that they had made a got wheels show, but this show was so poorly put together, from the horrible judges that complained about everything and chose the car they would complain about the most as the winner, down to the rigged winners with the most basic built cars, every episode was a disappointment and I hope if they make a second season they change everything and actually make it watch able, And the grand final was far from grand, the car that won was the least worthy of the title, the car that come 3rd should have been the winner. The entire show just feels liked Biased minority driven rubbish.
