Director Mike Redman was just sixteen years of age when he made Ritual of the Damned which garnered him a lot of publicity at that time. The film got a small cult following in The Netherlands and was screened at several Horror film festivals.
Even though Ritual of the Damned is a no budget b-Horror short, it became of great historic value for the Dutch city of Schiedam (Rotterdam West) where the entire film was shot. This because all buildings (including a hospital and police station) and locations where demolished or got a different purpose unrecognizable from their previous destination. Some of the only existing video footage of these locations appear in the film.
